Though I've not yet completed the game, I have found that it keeps me coming back with the same level of excitement each and every day I get to play it.

First I want to tackle the concerns about it being antisemetic.

I know there has been allegations of anti-semetism, with specific focus on Goblins. The goblins feel like goblins, such as one would find in D&D or World of Warcraft. I know in the movies and books there have been problematic things, but so far I've not seen anything in this game that would be disrespectful, though as someone who is not Jewish, please do not take this to mean more than what it is. I cannot speak for a culture and people I do not belong to. (See also: I'm not saying it is antisemetic and I'm not saying it's not antisemetic. I'm just saying I, as someone outside the culture, do not see anything that makes me immediately think of the Jewish people when I interact or see the goblins.)

Now for the gameplay!

Perhaps one of my favourite things about this game is the fact it doesn't simply give me every tool right from the start. I like to complete what side-quests I can in between main story quests, just to ensure the pacing doesn't go too fast (and miss out on the fun of the side-quests). Even after hours of play I still don't have every single thing unlocked, and though I'm getting much closer with each set of quests, it feels brilliantly paced.

The open world, though small according to the map size, still feels rather large because there are so many things to do and to enjoy. The controls feel very smooth and I don't find myself struggling to remember my keybinds as they were kind enough to provide little hints for those with their UI.

Story wise it's very intriguing and it keeps me coming back because I want to know more, I want to know how it plays out which means I need to play it to know what happens! There is so much to do and it's so varied, and I feel they break things up really well. I'm also obsessed with the various puzzles. I find them just challenging enough to not be boring, but not so ridiculously challenging that I can't figure it out. With the exception being jump puzzles, so if you are weak at jump puzzles like me, those will suck a little but they definitely aren't the hardest ones I've come across. Just a bit frustrating.

The voice acting is pretty strong, with my only complaint being that the player character with the feminine voice can sound a bit flat... not necessarily monotoned, just a bit too flat at times and a bit too calm considering the story the player character is going through. But it's a very mild gripe and it doesn't hinder my ability to enjoy the game at all.

Mechanically, I love the combat system. I love it so much. There are so many ways you can mix and match your spells and there are other tools you can use as well that make it varied and fun to experiment with. It also feels relatively clean and smooth. It can get a little bit tricky when facing larger groups of combatants though, and the different shield types can be a little bit annoying to get used to fighting against. But once you figure it out, it can be reeeeaaaally smooth.

Flying. Flying is pretty great. Smooth and simple to do. I hope that perhaps they'll release an expansion or something for quidditch, but I do see why they likely didn't include it in the game. Though the flying is fun and relatively smooth, I don't know how well it'd work with how quidditch plays. That said, they do have some activities you can use your flying for which makes it all the more enjoyable!

There are some areas where they are a little too vague with their instruction but I find these to be very very very few and far between. Most times if you can't figure it out, if you just look around for some basic clues, you'll kind of piece things together. So needless to say if puzzles and riddles are not your thing, you maaaaaay hate some of the puzzles and riddles. But if puzzles and riddles are your thing, then this has a great selection of puzzles and riddles to enjoy!

And lastly, the overall character designs. I really love how varied and diverse the side characters are! And that they actually play some important roles as side characters. It was cool to see. There is a lot of diversity in the game that I really appreciate (especially considering the issues with Rowling). So it was good to see the gaming company opting for that diversity and embracing it to the point that even the voice acting comes with a wealth of variety that seems to perfectly match the side character and where they come from. Now, don't mistake this to mean that everything is super authentic. I don't know if they are. I can't say. They aren't my cultures. But I do recognize the diversity they did bring and I applaud it and hope for even more in the future, with hopefully even more and more and more accuracy.

Loop Hero is an interesting combination between a deckbuilder and a roguelike, that seems to be one of the better balanced roguelike deckbuilders, in my personal opinion. That said, it does get repetitive very quickly once you find the style of gameplay you'd prefer and sometimes RNGesus can and will hate you. If you're good at changing up your play style in games like this, you'll likely be fine, but for me I wanted to stick to what I found to work best... which made things very repetitive. As for RNGesus, sometimes you'll get a run where it just seems to hate giving you upgrades, but they aren't nearly as frequent as most other games I've played where RNG is relied upon for some game mechanics.

That said, despite the repetition, the story kept me intrigued and I definitely was more interested as I gathered more cards, but the grind for resources sometimes burnt me out from the game for a little while. Even still, I always come back to it. It's actually really relaxing to play if you're looking for something relatively simple to keep your brain occupied, but not having to think too much.

The graphics really fit the game's style and environment, and it plays really smoothly. And though it does feel grindy, if you just change up your cards and get exploratory with it, I can imagine it won't feel nearly as repetitive as it has felt to me... playing with my single play style (which I want to state is my choice and therefore my fault, this is not a forced choice by the game so please don't take it as such!).

Only real con for me is that the boss's can be really obnoxious to try and take out, and you do have to get lucky with RNG drops for gear for this; but usually that doesn't impact things too harshly... unless you just get a run where RNGesus hates you, entirely! I don't get those runs very often though and usually can get relatively far!

This is a game where you are expected to die, or at least Retreat, regularly, in order to progress. So this can get a little frustrating as well if that type of gameplay annoys you! But all in all, though it may have some weaknesses (cause no game can ever be perfectly flawless), it's still a really solid game.

It's an alright looking skin, and likely will look best mixed and matched with the other two skins (Default & Ghost). However, if you go all out and just go strictly with this skin... it's a bit much. It's not my style of skin, personally, but I'm not really into gold-plated things.

I happened to get this for free with my purchase of Evil West, I don't know if it was due to buying it within it's release week, but I wouldn't have spent money on it personally. That said, getting it for free, I don't mind having it. But I, personally, would not spend $3 on this.

That said I still recommend this if black-ish leather & gold is your aesthetic. If it was my aesthetic, sure, $3 would likely be worth it.

The only real downside though for $3 is that it's not utilised in cut scenes. It goes back to the default outfit for the cutscene [it does not unequip whatever skin you have tho, so you don't need to worry about that], which kind of sucks if you're paying $3 for a skin... it might as well be visible in the cutscene.

That said, it's still a solid skin. It does look good if you're into this kind of aesthetic, like I said previously, it just isn't to my personal tastes.

If you want to go vampire killing as a cowboy set in a steampunk-esque wild west, you've come to the right place!

First, don't come in expecting a GTA style third-person shooter. And regardless of what other reviews might say, it is NOT a dodge & brawl. It CAN be a dodge & brawl, but the game plays host to a variety of weapons that you can choose to utilise (or not!). If dodge & brawl is your style, you can do that. If guns is more your jam, you can do that as well. Like to mix it up? You're absolutely free to do that too! A shoot 'em up hack 'n slash might be a touch more accurate, silly (or badass) as it sounds!

If you get stuck in the same combat style, it can get a little repetitive, but that's where the various combat weapons and abilities come in, to keep things fun and interesting. I've changed up fights here and there to keep things from growing stale, especially when a new ability or weapon gets introduced. It actually gave me some DOOM vibes due to all the various weapons and abilities and special attacks that I can utilise! The introduction of new weapons and tools also feels evenly paced, so by the time you get bored with your current kit, you likely will get a new addition to add to whatever rotation you've built, which is always nice. It keeps things interesting in combat.

Now is it worth the price tag? For me, and what I look for in games, yes. Yes it is entirely worth the price tag. The graphics are solid and don't try too hard for anything, the enemy models are diverse and interesting, but also unique to the individual monster type, and the controls have been very smooth thus far. The story so far, though not something I'd write home about, is interesting enough to keep me going, especially as it relates to the character you play. I wouldn't say the story is weak though, it just isn't doing anything super spectacular, but it also doesn't NEED to. And in reality, there's only so much one can create around vampires. But it's still a good story especially the deeper you go into it. That said, it's up to you and what you're looking for. If you're looking for a GTA style TPS... then you're looking for Red Dead. If you want God of War but as a vampire-infested steampunk-esque western, then you definitely might be looking for Evil West!

I've also had no launching issues, no glitches or bugs thus far, which is more than I can say for some AAA titles.

I've had two glitches thus far. One where I got stuck in a floor texture in a fight, however, this has only happened once thus far... and was because I was dodging rolling into things that I probably shouldn't have! The second is the sound glitch. It took me a while to get this glitch and for me, it only seems to happen with one specific monster. It's obnoxious enough that I do need to re-load but going out to the front menu and back in isn't too big an issue for me, personally, just a tad annoying. But definitely willing to put up with it for this game. So far I've had the glitch crop up twice. Once it resolved itself, probably thanks to a cutscene, the other did not resolve and I had to exit to the front menu.

Oh, and my favourite thing? There is a setting called "Arachnophobia" which means you can turn off the spiders in the game. There is at least one enemy that has some spider-like qualities but as a hardcore archnophobe I found fighting it was fine, and didn't cause me any arachnophobic-specific distress. But as someone who has had to suffer spider or spider-adjacent creatures in many of my favourite games, I was thrilled to have the option to turn it off. It seems silly, I know, but it really makes the game TRULY enjoyable for a wider audience and well, anything to make a game more playable for people, makes me happy!

THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE... is saving. It does tell you approximately how long it has been since your last save, but there seems to be no quick save option (please by all means if you know one exists and I'm just blind, let me know!). So you're kind of stuck wondering when you've saved, if the game has saved, and trying to remember when you might have seen it save. Because you can't just... do a normal save, either. It's all based on the game's own auto-saving points. That's really about the only complaint I have with this game so far and it doesn't really tarnish it at all... just a little annoying.

If this game feels like something you've been desperately craving (like I have), and you've the money for it (always check your budget first, friends), I highly recommend grabbing this game.
