An amazing game exploring interesting questions about consciousness and identity. This deserves the Hugo.

BEAVERS! Banished with much much better building mechanics and an amazing water simulation. For an early access game, all of the game's core concepts are extremely well-realized and you love to see it.

Extremely fun political simulator. It has depth and difficulty but due to the way you progress up the political ladder you're normally able to handle it. For an early access game this is absurdly well realized with only one or two mechanics I'd add, at times though the amount of things you have to click in a turn can be tiring though, especially with some of the party jobs. If you love Democracy 3 or Lawgivers buy this game right now

An amazing game reminiscent of games such as Enter the Gungeon in progression but with its own distinctive vibe and style. The physics system is amazingly well executed and meshes perfectly with gameplay and the modular spell/wand system makes for unique and interesting gameplay each time you start a new run. The difficulty curve is fairly steep which can be frustrating but is obviously an intentional design choice and feels decently implemented. It's rife with secrets and always has something new to find/

Stellaris is one of, if not the, best strategy games I have ever played. (Incidentally the other contenders are also Paradox games.) It blends traditional 4X gameplay with Paradox's own unique cocktail of grand strategy. (And the occasional wacky event.) Paradox's titles always have a strong sense of comunity and you know the devs realy care about their game and the user's experience with it.
