First review I'm writing for a steam game; I've recently learned of Zachtronics-type games, and I've discovered a world that I didn't think was possible. An edutainment game, in my head, is the kind of game I played when I was 4 and was too smooth-brained to play the games my older siblings were playing. (Thinking of Putt-Putt vs Nintendo RPGs like LoZ OoT)

To be clear, this is a puzzle game, and not necessarily an edutainment game, but lessons can be learned here if you're looking for them.

I work in IT as a network specialist and got a high-level understanding of cryptography injected into me, but I never expected this to be the setting where I learn how a function that essentially works as a ROT ciphering function is expressed mathematically from playing a game, let alone about 20 minutes in. (It's a little more than a simple ROT cipher, but that's kinda[?] besides the point)

True, the game doesn't explain it to you, but if you have an interest in mathematics and in solving your problem without brute-forcing it with your logical intuition, it's a really cool exercise to get you thinking mathematically.

The game is fun too if you just want to play a game to finish it, don't get me wrong! But if you're looking to have the genuine experience, I feel like you shouldn't play to complete the game, but instead play with actually understanding the functions in mind.

Definitely recommend; if you're really REALLY stingy, I'm sure you can find challenges similar to these online, but this is, so far, a great structured package of problems, and I feel like it was a 3$ well spent.
