Wildermyth is a beautifully-crafted game that calls upon the bittersweet whimsy of stories like The Last Unicorn, while also presenting rewarding and engaging tactical gameplay. The gameplay loop in Wildermyth is perfection, with an excellent balance of story and tactical combat.

What's truly exceptional is how Wildermyth manages to take all these procedurally-generated elements and masterfully fit them together seamlessly and believably to create a unique campaign for your characters. The fact that the writing is so strong that it allows these random rosters of characters to develop actual stories is nothing short of remarkable.

Even the pop-up picture book art style - which was initially a little off-putting when I first watched the trailer - completely fits the tone and themes of the game. It manages to invoke both a fantastical storybook aesthetic *AND* simultaneously capture a bit of tabletop magic with the papercraft feel.

Wildermyth really stands out as something unique and special, and I strongly recommend it.
