Small squads of chimps will leave the home and patrol their territory looking for other chimps. Their primary method of attack is by using the element of surprise. They have also have been recorded using flanking maneuvers to ensure victory. Chimps that participate in these dangerous missions are rewarded back home with social status and access to better mates.
