This game will have you hooked for hours, and that's honestly no lie. The game doesn't take itself seriously, and it knows that, and plays off that the entire time which definitely makes for an enjoyable experience; the humor doesn't get old as it has so many jokes and references.
The gameplay itself might not be what you expect from a Roguelike-- it's not as complicated. However that doesn't make a bad rogue-like by any means, as the core mechanics are certainly there: you're gonna die and die and DIE until the game feels bored with you... and then will kill you at the final boss anyways, because well hey, it's a Roguelike and that's just what they do.
You'll be playing this game for hours, trying to figure out what is the best combination of skills for your liking, how the enemies work, and what items do what and how they even do that. It's jolly good fun, the expansion is entirely worth it... and this, on complete, is less than eight dollars. It's literally a steal.
