I've loved the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise for years, ever since I was a small boy, I bought games for my PSP, got old school yugioh games for the pc, collected cards and overall was a massive fans of the series, It's a fun card game with cool artwork and all your nerd/kid neuron activation parameters were met.

This game however (or should I say, the meta present in the actual card game that has *kind* of translated itself into this game) makes this a slog of a game if you purely intend to have fun. The meta of this game (so most of the decks you are going up against) rely heavily on negates. Negates are cards that are designed with the intent to negate effects of (usually) the opponent's cards. What does this entail then? It means that every battle you have is you going against an opponent who, if he has a meta deck (which are decks where your opponent plays by himself for a good 10 minutes to set up negates for when it's eventually your turn), is going to his absolute best to make sure you can't play when he's done with his turn.
It's this agonising feeling akin to watching a guy tell you for 10 minutes that he's about to kick you in the nuts really hard and you can't do anything about it... and then he kicks you in the nuts.

It's devolved from a fun card game where you play with these gimmicky decks with cool strats and creative ways to win into an absolute slog fest with everyone just using negates and boring combos that, for me, killed one of the big reasons why I preferred this card game over the others (barring childhood bias).
I'm not even going to get into the system of getting cards (you essentially get enough points for like 2-3 decks and after that it gets real hard to make any new decks without paying for packs and stuff) but I was honestly willing to ignore that as long as I had fun.

Unfortunately it's a game where powercreep is very very much present and I quit playing after dumping around 190 hours on it
