This is the first game I felt the need to review in years; it can be a little janky in a lot of categories from combat to building to simple movement, but the game looks beautiful, the story was interesting, and the basic gameplay loop was addictive.

For the two weeks I worked my way through the story I sacrificed sleep to play longer, and when I did sleep I dreamed about this game. I will absolutely play it again someday, and I recommend everyone give it a try

If your looking to buy this game and you dont know much about it, I'd say go for it! It's awesome! But for those of you who have played before, or a developer or member of Facepunch (fingers crossed that you guys will read this) I have some 'complaints'.

For those of you who dont know, Rust legacy is a version of the game which was introduced while the game was being developed, and was playable as an alternate version up until recently (as far as I can tell from the forums, within the last few months of 2k16). Honestly, the current Rust and Rust legacy are two completely different games, both haveing their strenghts and weaknesses. While the majority of people play the current version, both for its better graphics, lack of hackers, and the fact that its still being developed, there was a strong community who still played the old game.

Personally, I hadnt played either version of the game in several months, but between my three account I probably have close to fifteen hundred hours on the two of them, and most of that was on legacy. I came back recently because of rumors of the games death, and after discovering they were true Ive been working to find a solution.


All I ask is for your guys help and support in getting this game back, either as its own title, 'legacy', or as an alternate version of the current game.

In all honesty we, as a community, dont care about the lag and the bugs and the hackers that plauged the game, and getting it back even without further development on FacePunches part would make us happy. Most of us would even be willing to spend the money to buy it as a seperate title.

As far as it not being worth it for the developers to continue it, I say dont worry about it. If PacePunch truely got rid of the game becasue they didnt want to host the servers anymore, just make it our problem. Have all the servers be client sided. if you cant do that, give us the code! I'd be happy to personally develope and host the damn game if it ment people could play it again, or give it to the community at large, make it a project we could all work on together.

Just please, consider giving us our game back!
