Steam is boiling water. It would have to be at least 100 degrees Celsius or 215 Fahrenheit. If the water has impurities, this can vary the temperature to even higher. Plus it is in pipes moving over great distances, this raises it again. So, yeah, this steam could be well over 400 degrees Fahrenheit and it's blasting you in the face, you could die, and if not, be seriously burned and injured. It will boil the skin off of you. Don't ♥♥♥♥ with steam.
