Dota has kind of lost its way over the years. I don't enjoy modern dota anymore. It's become significantly more complicated, but strategically its much simpler. Everything is mostly the same strategy. 2-1-2 lanes, farm up, teamfight, win. No more hard push comps. No more 4 protect 1. No more rat dota. No more split and gank. No more snowball cheese strats. No more 3-1-1, or 2-1-1-Jungle. Teamfight and 2-1-2 had a place back in the day, alongside a plethora of other strategies.

Heroes are also a lot more similar than they are different. I won't say modern dota is a bad game. They've done a fantastic job with quality of life improvements over the years. And if you really like brawl and teamfight you'll enjoy it. But it's not for me anymore. I've switched to Dota Classic with no regrets.

(If you're wondering why my playtime keeps increasing, it's because dota classic uses an old client, so steam registers it as playing Dota. I'm not actually playing modern dota.)

Game seems really hard. I couldn't even make it out of Helgen without mods. Bows are really OP too.

This game definitely is the best in the series. I thought the bar was high with System Shock 2, but then 3 comes along and is even better. I wholeheartedly recommend System Shock 3.

No game has ever made me feel like Zapp Brannigan before.

Absolutely excellent. If you enjoyed Age of Wonders 3, you will love this game. It's a straight upgrade in all categories. The combat remains excellent as ever, but now the strategic layer is FAR more involved. If you weren't satisfied with the last game because of the simplified empire building, you'll want to check this out. The music is excellent. The factions are well designed and balanced. The unit mod system adds an entirely new dynamic to unit tactics, and creates many more build options over other similar games. The new covert ops system and operations layer as a whole fixes many problems in the last game, and opens(again) more strategic options.

The only gripes with the game are often choppy animations, and some small sound problems. Nothing major in either of those camps, and the devs are rapidly fixing them.

At release, this game is at already superior to the last game. I expect in the coming months it's only going to get better. I strongly endorse it.

The Myth of Sisiyphus in game form. It is a thing of beauty.

Early Access Review
It's like Dwarf Fortress if it was actually playable. 10/10 worth every cent.

I'm thumbing this game down purely on the basis of its price point. I actually enjoyed the game a great deal, but it is extremely short, and lacking in content. If you see it on sale, I DO recommend buying it. But don't pay $25 for a $10 game.

This game is amazingly innovative and surprisingly polished. I could play this game for days. Strongly recommend.

Unfortunately, this game has most of the bad tropes of roguelikes, and none of the good.
