I will never trust this developer and Publisher again. This game was a cash grab. They took the bones of another game, and threw a star trek skin. Which is fine, starting out - but they should have continued to expand the game with add-ons. There were promises made that we would see more. Unfortunately, we never did. There are other games that have mods that do better than this with an active dev base.

TL;DR - About 10 dollars too high, if you love BSG/Turn-based (WEGO) (preferably both, b ut either or) - then this is a game you should get.

Pros:

- You feel like you're in the BSG universe.
- Actions have consequences, you can lose ships - even if you are in a situation you cant lose
- 6 directions versus 4. Most games allow you 4 directions (forward, back, left right) - BSG gives you six (up, Down, Forward, Back, Left, Right) to fight from. This adds a dynamic that makes it a lot of fun.
- First Cylon war - This does have a war feel to it, it can get desperate.

Cons:

- Missing that 'extra' to it. Story, Outside combat feel, characters, et. al. feel unpolished. This gives it a 'beta copy' feel.
- About 10 dollars to high given its lack of the extras, in my opinion (though I would suggest every BSG or Turnbased/WeGo fan get it)
- Bugs: While rare, you will get the random bug. Nothing game breaking.. but things that you know aren't supposed to be there. A ship randomly floats in a direction, you FTL in and the ship is inverted for a moment.. etc.
- Story: I put this at the start, but don't buy it for the story. I wish I could say the opposite, but buy it to be in BSG if that's your flavor.

This is a game that I really do enjoy. The game has a gritty feel to it, no matter what level you are at - or what ships you have - it is quite possible to lose them. There are tactics that do help gaurantee a win, but there is always a real risk of ships being lost. The game really excells in its combat piece. You can move in six directions (Up, Down, Left, Right, Forward, Back). This adds a great element to it, and also a difficulty as you can have ships run into eachother from both sides.

Outside of combat, everything else is manegable. So it's turn based, you can research ships and weapons, you can build ships and weapons, and you move your forces around a map. There is nothing spectacular about this and what it does have feels like battlestar galactica - so its passeable.

While I am a youtuber as well (under the Lore Reloaded brand) - I do watch other youtubers and would agree with Enter Elysium's opinion that this game would be considered a 'Good Beta'. What I mean by that is that it is really well done, the game as sold will do it for you if you are a BSG/Turnbased fan. But it's missing the little things. There are nit picks here and there, and a few things that could be explained better in a tutorial. Additionally, the story could use some work. They put together a game that works well as a Battle simulator, but didn't take just the little bit of extra time to nail everything else down.

Also, the price is, for me, about 10 dollars to high. I think it's a solid 30 dollar game. 40 dollars seems a bit stout with out all of the little things. It's like buying a car at the standard price, but the radio isn't installed. Still, I would personally pay the 10 dollars more because I love strategy and I love BSG. If you are the same, I suggest you get it.

If you are on the fence? Might wait for a steam sale. Either way, this ultimately should be in your library.

Pros:
Open World makes you feel like you make a difference
Gun modification
Liberating areas

CONS:
Storyline makes no sense
Linear
Last Level glitch/map error makes near unwinnable
Repetetive

So.. Homefront The Revolution is a mixed bag which is why it deserves a 'mixed' review. I am going to be honest in saying that I probably like this game because of when I played the first one and how nostalgic it made me feel to play this game.

Unfortunately, it felt like they did a retcon so that everything you did in Homefront 1 didn't occur. Which sucks, it was fun helping the military and seeing them in action. The fact that NORTH KOREA could do all of this to the United States is perposterious. I know they changed it from China, but going with CHina would have made it feel more real.

The game play, Except for the last level, is solid and the game can be fun. The story makes no sense, and is barely logical. They create threads that they never finish - and some of the groups you see are stereotypes.

I did enjoy the radio chatter as you freed different districts.. It made it feel like a real revolution as the group became more and more organized, however.

Overall , It's a very mixed bag.. The game is work 30 bucks at the high end in my opinion - a solid buy at 20.. They're stealing money at 60, or even 40.
