As the guard of one of the canopic jars and a protector, Serket gained a strong association with Neith, Isis, and Nephthys, who also performed similar functions. Eventually, Serket began to be identified with Isis, sharing imagery and parentage, until finally, Serket became said to be merely an aspect of Isis, whose cult had become very dominant.

I was depicted as a scorpion or as a scorpion with the head and torso of a woman and even as a woman with a scorpion on his head. The scorpion is a symbol that appeared on the earliest Egyptian artifacts related to the earliest human settlements to the beginning of the Early Dynastic Period around 3100 BC.

In a strong association with the scorpion, which is famous to protect it's young, also Serket symbolizes the strong protection of motherhood and nurturing of children. In this aspect, she was compared to the Egyptian goddess Isis, who protected Horus from Seth, the god of chaos and, during the child's infancy.
