Early Access Review
Not only is the game fun and the mechanics crisp, it's also highly educational.

For example, I never knew that the crab's natural predator is the giant flaming skull.

The game is ridiculously unoptimized. I can only hit consistent 60fps on all map sections on the lowest settings. Worst part is that the game's graphics don't even look particularly good to justify such terrible performance. If it was some high fidelity, ultra realistic masterpiece of graphical art I'd give it a pass but it's not even close to that. Looks extremely similar to MH: world.

If you drop the quality enough to actually get consistent 60fps, the game looks like total ♥♥♥♥.

i7 13700k
RTX 4060
32GB DDR5 6000mhz

game is installed on Samsung evo 990 pro.

Terrible.

Harada, the game's director, said "I'd rather quit than have characters as DLC." He simply lied.

https://www.escapistmagazine.com/no-paid-dlc-characters-for-tekken-ever/
https://www.xboxachievements.com/news/news-11467-tekken-will-never-do-paid-dlc-characters-says-harada.html

Bamco SOLD frame data in Tekken 7. The most important aspect of gameplay was sold as paid DLC. Frame data had to be looked up online outside of official sources before then. Here are the lies Harada told regarding frame data. http://www.avoidingthepuddle.com/news/2014/2/4/harada-on-revealing-frame-data-in-tekken-games.html

Remember when the Leroy nerfs were leaked? The nerfs had a date on them which was before the character's release. They knew he was OP; They intentionally released him like such to sell more DLC.

But no worries, in this game you'll get a legacy character as DLC. (Eddy)

Weeks after releasing the 70$, full-priced game, they announced that there will be a Tekken shop where you can buy cosmetics and customizations (which are heavily redacted/lacking in this game) with real money. They probably did this to avoid bad reviews on release day though I have no source on that.

They claimed "Our micro-transactions won't be predatory". Take a wild guess on what actually happened. Yep; the shop released today and the micro-transactions are using the well-known predatory business practices to sell more.

But of course, they can't be bothered to award a loss directly to the pluggers. Or they simply don't care enough to fix it. Plugging will currently have 0 effect on the plugger on ranked.

This company keeps lying. Harada is lying and building a cult of personality around him and the players are buying it. This is exactly what serves the Tekken community right. The community is getting EXACTLY what it deserves after buying the paid frame data.

Gameplay is fire though so there's that. Pirate the DLC instead of paying. Just use an unlocker instead of paying for the season pass.

Simply put, ♥♥♥♥ Bamco. One of the scammiest companies in existence.

Constant crashes and an enormous amount of bugs. It's unbelievable how many game breaking bugs there are.

I was one of the few people that managed to play this game without any crashes and minimal bugs. Absolutely not recommended.

Graphics:
Notable upgrade from the first one. It aged really well and it's easy on the eyes. All around, good.

Story:
Mediocre at best. Basically, "I have to find Juno to tell her I love her." Whatever. Starkiller clone has absolutely no other motivation or anything interesting going for him really. I didn't mind that much although the first one was much better.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is absolutely trash. While the combat underwent a significant and quite amazing upgrade, the overall gameplay is horrible. I LOVED killing enemies and using the force and every ability but it was stale as ♥♥♥♥. There are essentially 3 missions of which, the first one actually feels good because you are not aware of what awaits you on the other two. The other 2, are fluctuating between very bad and downright horrible. The total campaign took me 3.5 hours to "finish."

Unlike the first game, there is absolutely no enemy variety whatsoever. The troopers are the enemy. The harder enemies are re-skinned troopers and big trooper droids. There are troopers with lightsabers as well. The mission/objective design in all 3 missions is abysmal and totally unenjoyable. The environment/aesthetic of the first mission is great. (Cloud City.) It really distracts you from how boring the actual mission is. The boss was cool and creative though. I'll give it that.

The second mission takes place within a space-ship and is simply, trash. There is nowhere near enough combat to keep things interesting and you spend more time dragging things with the force to open doors and jumping from ledge to ledge than actually fighting and progressing. Of the 3.5-hour campaign, I must have spent around 30-40 minutes just dragging things to open doors. The objectives and mission design is downright insulting as well. Dropping the ship on Kamino was fairly cool but completely overshadowed by the previous mission where you did, pretty much the same thing but with a big monster instead.

The third mission is on Kamino (indoors) and it's pretty much the same thing as with Mission 2. No enemy variety, nothing interesting going on at any point and instead of spending 40 minutes dragging things to open doors, you spend 20 minutes jumping from platform to platform to find Vader, and another 20 minutes fighting him because he keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ running away and throwing edgy lines at you instead of actually fighting. Chasing him means - you guessed it- jumping from platform to platform again, watching 10 second force-use cutscenes while having little 20-second fights in-between. Rinse and repeat. Which is why I ended up ALT+F4'ing halfway through since it had been 20 minutes or something and Vader was still alive throwing one-liners towards me about how he''s gonna destroy me. I watched the endings on Youtube.

Cutscenes are a reoccurring problem in this game as there are SO.♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.MANY. Every little thing requires a small, "gameplay breaking" cutscene.

"STARKILLER, I'M DISABLING THE SECURITY LOCKDOWN."
>Gameplay stops and pans towards the door to show us that it's now open.
Repeat once every 2 minutes or so.

I swear, this entire campaign would be 1 hour long if you could remove all cutscenes and sections where you have to either drag things to open doors or jump from platform to platform.

It really is a shame. If they had simply taken the combat from this game and put it in the first one, we could have had one of the best Star Wars games ever made. Hell, if they kept the first game's formula of "Go to planet, kill jedi, come back" it would have been much more enjoyable. We could have seen different enemies, bosses, environments, maybe even objectives within the missions. Instead, we got this lazy, uninspiring piece of unpolished ♥♥♥♥ with a Star Wars theme on top. What a shame.

Early Access Review
I used to play Quake back in the day but this one, I just can't play. I played 2 games and already got bored of it. It's probably the horrible optimization and "clunky" feel the game has. I didn't explore much of the game because I was extremely turned down by the gameplay.

I'm by no means a Quake fanboy (BUT MUH OLD QUAKEEEEEE) or biased towards the old ones but I simply can't enjoy the "feel" this game has while playing it. Sorry, but no.

I've been playing FPS games since I was 7 years old and competitive games since I was 12. ROE was an EXTREMELY refreshing game to play.

The Battle Royale Experience:

- Extremely satisfied with the zone and RNG. Vehicles are plenty and the time is just as much as needed. I've NEVER found myself rushing to the zone without gear because of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zone. Even when at the furthest possible range.

- The loot spawn rate is lower than other BR games. There's been times where I had to settle for a weapon I didn't want. Fine by me.

- The concept of picking your position and seeing the positions of other players is lovely. I was pleasantly surprised.

- The mobility options are also amazing. I always love finding hills to snowboard from.

- I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the devs for only implementing two helmets and two vests. I also love them for giving me a backpack and starting weapons. Extremely important to me not to have to look for a backpack.

- The final helicopter concept was very refreshing. I liked having an objective and planning tactically on how to execute it.

- However, the player position reveal is not something I'm a fan of. The game, obviously, has to force players to end it some way, but I feel revealing the position is not the way to go. Still, it's not too bad as more often than not, I don't get to that stage. When I do though, I usually get "Trade-killed" with some other player.

- The games are draining. ROE is the only Battle Royale game where I play 1-2 games and I'm done for a while. I can't play more than an hour because it gets tiring. If I have an exciting game with 8+ kills I might play more, but finishing top 3 with 2-3 kills is just not exciting for me and always want a break before playing more.

To sum up the Battle Royale experience, ROE was an extremely refreshing experience. The game doesn't feel like it's decided by RNG. In other Battle Royale games, I very often feel like RNG has screwed me or favored me massively. I felt that ROE rewarded skill more regardless of RNG. The end game helicopter concept is always interesting, but would be nice to be reworked to force players to end the game another way instead of revealing all positions.

Optimization/Graphics/Gameplay/Audio:

The gameplay is extremely fun. It's the perfect blend between an Arcade and a Tactical shooter. It feels fluid and smooth for the most part and I don't have many complaints. I feel like with the advancement through Early Access, it's going to be improved even more.

The Graphics are ... Sub-Par for it's time. Definitely dated. The player models look weird inside the map. At long distances their proportions look even weirder. Still, that is not something that discouraged me from the game since the gameplay more than makes up for it. The map design is pleasant. It doesn't feel boring and repetitive. It definitely gives you an "Enemy At The Gates" vibe. Which is a good thing.

The Audio on the other hand is weird. It's neither good or bad. I can hardly pin-point enemy positions even when extremely near them and more often than not, I find myself second guessing whether the shots fired came from where I thought they came.
If the developers were aiming for this exact thing, then well done to them. You can have a general idea where the sounds come from but not pin point them exactly. But if it's not what they were aiming for, then the sound design is atrocious.

Optimization is bad. As in, very bad. I felt it and even with an extremely high GPU/CPU you're also going to feel it. Nothing much to say on this.

All in all, the game is great and I want to believe that it's going to be improved even more in the future. Hopefully, they add a smaller map too. This big one gets boring some times.

I'll keep this review short and simple.
Tekken 7 is heavily focused on knowing your opponent and your opponent's character. There are currently 12 characters locked behind a paywall. You need to pay for the base game, +95 bucks just to learn how to play against 12 characters who other people have access to. Even though you may never want to play them yourself. In addition, the greedy pieces of ♥♥♥♥ actually charge for Frame Data information. They are charging money for one of THE most important pieces of information required to play at any level.

The Online experience is horrible, there is no anti-cheat/anti-grief system, no penalties, the netcode is terrible, the crashes are rampant and is generally a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to say the least. Customization sucks, story is nowhere to be seen, various features are missing such as quick rematch, practice mode while matchmaking and so on. Matchmaking is broken as well since the connection requirements do not seem to affect actual matchmaking in any way. Of course, there's no way to see if your opponent is wired or on WiFi which makes a massive difference.
I could go on and on but I think that paints a good enough picture. If you can overlook all of these, all the broken promises and the desperate cash milking then by all means, buy it. The gameplay itself is actually phenomenal. Everything else however sucks.

♥♥♥♥ you Bandai, ♥♥♥♥ you Namco, ♥♥♥♥ you Harada and from the bottom of my heart, ♥♥♥♥ you to all the players who support this system and buy their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Reminder: April 2012 - Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has said he'll never charge consumers for character DLC in any of his games. In his interview with Edge, Harada did not rule out paid DLC in the Tekken series for things like vanity items, but reiterated that players should never be made to pay for characters.

Well done.
