As someone who has never played a TTRPG/D&D i have GREATLY enjoyed the D&D basis of this game, as well as just how unique your story can be. It's so well thought out, and the developers seem invested in making the game be all it can be.

Highly recommend, as a newb to this style of gaming. The world is yours to explore- find everything, or don't! Use your imagination- there's very little clues...
All in all: If you're a glutton for punishment, this is it. You WILL die. Over and over. And over and over and over. But hey- what's more rewarding than finally finishing an area on the 10th run through?! 12/10 best toxic relationship I've had with anything.
