Early Access Review
Incredible concept, fitting design, endless hours of fun and a steady income of updates. Great game that's being taken great care of, and helped grow.

In case it's not obvious, you're a seaman on a submarine. In space. Not quite in space, but a moon of Jupiter, so definitely not Earth. Everything out there is trying to kill you, while you're just trying to make a living, sometimes including other humans. You can side with different factions by completing their quests (only a handful of them right now), earn money for... basically housework of the submarine. Restock on ammo, improving guns, appliances, and all that business.

Immense opportunity of roleplay, even with just 2 or 3 other friends. Getting a full, 10 man sub full of actual players and setting up a chain of command between you is undoubtedly hard, but it can be SO MUCH FUN.

10/10, can't wait to see what's next for Barotrauma.

Writing a review for this game is a pretty sisyphic task in and of itself. It went from the cool kid on the block, to the junkie living in a wrecked 1997 Ford Escort under a motorway, to the reformed senior citizen who's better off now than he ever was, so it's no wonder the opinions are so radical.

It's not an action packed game and it's not trying to be a MilSim.
It's a quite slow paced survival game, which, in my opinion, is only fun if you're willing to interact with the people you meet, either by talking to them... or shooting them in the back of the head and eating their beans.

I'd give it an 8/10. I absolutely love it, but BI still got work to do.

Can get stale at times, depending on your playstyle. All in all, fun to kick back and play it even once in a while... granted you don't have the most hardcore friends that actually want to be proficient in playing it.

Endless hours of fun, especially with friends. It's a must-play if you ask me.
