A good procedural game... it's a bit buggy, but it's playable, and if you're like me? you'll enjoy it... just.. Don't trust the reactors, they explode if you look at them funny.

Join a Dwarven Mining concern on a world that appears to have been infested by an unknown species, use fire, metal slugs, and even your pickaxe to harvest the minerals, slaughter the infestation, make the planet cry....

Wait, are we the evil mega-corporation?
Yep.

The planet appears to be alive, and, based on the groaning, and crying when you cut the eggs out of the infestation, it's not happy about your presence...

So go, slaughter it's immune system for fun and profit with up to 3 randoms, or your friends (if you want to turn them to the dark side as well) and upgrade your dwarves to badarse status.

Purge the Xenos infestation, and harvest the planets wealth for your masters.
FOR THE GROG!

I've recommended this, but I have to put provisions on that recommendation.

The phrase 'wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle' applies to this game. You'll find a lot of time spent travelling, using out-of-game tools to find resources, look up trade routes, and generally roll around the portions of the galaxy with content.

The upcoming changes to scanning are promising, but not the perfection we needed... The changes to mining, I haven't looked over, and the Thargoid stuff that's coming up? If I haven't put you off yet, know that you will need horizons, and a lot of time to grind the content to get the 'good' Anti-Xeno weapons.

Now. Having said that, when you've found a style of gameplay you like (I like to drift trade ships... don't judge me) and you've engineered the ship to do what you want, you'll find the fun you needed. Some people like to go and kill swarms of enemies solo (Gluttony Fang is probably the master of that) Others like to kill anything they find (Jonuss of Broadcast Cobra is a good example of that) And some just like to haul insane volumes of cargo insane distances (operation IDA, and Hutton Orbital Truckers are good groups to join for that).

This is a game that you need to play with friends, and you will need to use out-of-game tools to find them. The new Squadrons mechanics may work well, but we'll have to see how they work in the wild.

I've played the game for 15 hours at this point. I've enjoyed it.

It has taken elements of the original game, and redone them in a more modern setting, this will certainly annoy some factions, who want everything to be 'improved' to their standard. (resource shortages force gameplay decisions, and if you can't make interesting decisions, it's not going to be an interesting game)

Having said that, it isn't perfect. Some achievements don't work (they are being worked on) and an outcome to do with a race called the Pinthi wasn't allowed for, and may prevent you progressing.

At this point, I would say the game is worth it's price, I haven't finished it yet, but it has now made my 'do not play if work or sleep is required' list. Purchase and play with caution, as it may suck your time up faster than you had allowed.

This is (Finally) the remastered game we were promised, they'vegone away from arbitrary 'RNG' damage chances, to rendering and 'hitboxing' the ammunition and energy beams being fired, while fixing most of the formation issues.

The music, and plot points are as awesome as I remember, and it runs on my computer far more cleanly than the old copy I still have kicking around.

I am part-way into a game, I kept alive the only survivor of the tutorial mission (other than Bradford) through multiple missions, at which point my sister asked if this was to do with a 'romance' plot...

I explained the idea like this... 'If Xcom 2 had a romance plot, your love interest would be replaced by the faceless, and you would be forced to kill them in a pitched battle to the death with only wounded soldiers to back you up.'

This game is heartless, relentless, and casts you as the insurgent forces trying to defeat a vastly superior enemy, that has taken hold of earth, is dug in, and has the support of most of the world's population. You are the underdog... and if you are as bad as me at this game, it will take great delight in kicking you.

9/10 - Thank you sir, would you kick me again?
