After 4 consecutive playthroughs in one week, I can say I probably LOVED this masterpiece. IT'S NOW OR NEVER!!!

Before playing this game however, increase the FOV. The default one is painfully low. I went from someone who almost quit the game due to said unplayable FOV, to a huge Metro fan who is going to purchase the books. Yes, it is THAT much needed.

To do that, go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\854427438\43110\remote", open "user.cfg" and look for "sick_fov 59". Change the 59 to 75, save the file and close it. Right click on "user.cfg", go to Properties and check "Read-only", then Apply.

Hands down the best gaming reboot of all time. DOOM (2016) is basically what the great minds at ID Software had in mind back in the early 90's, but the retro DOOM games were the closest they could get to this concept with contemporary technology. This reboot is the full realization of such ambition. The refinement of their vision. This game is what our minds filled in the blanks with as we played the old games, in the flesh. Glory kills were first introduced here, and it's what we imagined ourselves doing to them: ripping them apart, smashing their skulls with our feet, snapping their necks, breaking their jaws, etc.

This is what DOOM is all about. The atmosphere, frenetic gameplay and borderline horror aspects we get in this masterpiece is what DOOM has always been about. The retro games started it, DOOM 3 pushed it against horror territory, and while all these titles are legendary, the reboot perfected it, culminating in a dopamine rush of a game that took the gaming community and Hell itself by storm. This time with cutting edge graphics with very high resolution and quality. If for some reason faint vertical lines appear on the screen while looking at the distance, disabling Directional Occlusion fixes it. This review is based on playing this game with graphics options set to Ultra at 144fps, which is chef's kiss.

DOOM (2016) has a bunch of lore sprinkled throughout that, while genuinely interesting to study and comprehend, can be summed up to a guy who is literally punishing Hell itself for being mischievous. The events happen after DOOM 64, where important events happen and people say important things, but the Doomslayer himself doesn't care, and just wants to go on a demon killing spree, judging by his demeanour in cutscenes. You're not thrown into levels full of demons: it's the demons who are trapped in the level with YOU.

The modern DOOM games have one of the objectively best and most memorable soundtracks of all time, done by Mick Gordon. This artist poured all of his artistic skills in this project, and it definitely shows. Metal music enjoyers will 100% appreciate it, and even people who aren't fans of the genre still appreciate the purely energetic, adrenaline pumping guitar riffs, that fits the game perfectly, filling us with unimaginable hatred towards the demons we are annihilating.

The multiplayer is surprisingly not dead as of 2024, with lobbies filling up in seconds. It's Quake but with DOOM (2016) movement and weapons. We can even glory kill players! It's fantastic and a very good time.

Only my weapon understands me! This game is simultaneously extremely silly, and extremely violent. Great for offending your overly religious grandparents. This can't be good for me, but I feel great!

I regret nothing... Oops, wrong game! This is the edgy cousin of POSTAL basically. Much like its direct inspiration, there was controversy around this game back in 2015, and it's obvious why. To say that, if you've never experienced Half-Life before, playing this game instead of the original is a good introduction says A LOT of this wonderful remake's quality. Black Mesa is the prime example of how a remake should be made. It takes the original game, which obviously is a masterpiece, and expands on it, refining not only game mechanics and graphics, but also the levels. It overhauls tedious sections and gives a much needed uplift to the worst aspects of the original Half-Life, making them much more doable. 10/10. I'm a huge fan of boomer shooters, and Shrine delivers! How this game and its sequel are free is beyond me.

10/10, would throw a bar of soap at Eldritch abominations again. One of the best boomer shooters one can get their hands on. Mixes DOOM, Quake, Painkiller, Heretic and HeXen perfectly, but manages to have its own identity. DUSK should be mentioned anywhere boomer shooters are concerned. TL:DR; - If you want an MMO to sink time in, go elsewhere.

I simply cannot see anyone enjoying this boring snoozefest of a game without nostalgia goggles. There is simply nothing to grab your attention!

Questing is ridiculous, the objectives are a bunch of "are you serious" checks in a tedious chore list. Allow me to show an example: You need to make a cake for a cook. Sounds simple and probably fun, right? Wrong. You need to craft a weapon to gather wheat, bring said wheat to a windmill, find a pot, put the wheat in the pot, use water on the pot, use the pot on the third floor of the windmill, go back down the ladder to the ground floor of the windmill, pick up the wheat, now go milk some cows, but you need a bucket, so go get one and then come back to fill the bucket with milk, then combine everything, then bring it to the cook and ONLY THEN you have completed a RuneScape quest! I can't remember exactly how it played out, because the only memories I have from this game is a bunch of fuzzy moments of either walking to the other side of the map to grab ONE item, and then slowly make my way back because my running stamina is almost nonexistent and you spend 99.9% of your time in this game just idling to be able to run a couple of yards on a HUGE map, or very slowly strolling to the next quest objective if you don't want to just stand and refill the stamina.

Every quest in this game is ridiculously long and unnecessary like this. Plus, the childish and cringy humour does NOT help at all. Even though it seemed like it would grow on me and I'd eventually appreciate it, turns out it's EVERYWHERE, and is forced at times.

Believe it or not, the actual vibe and graphics of RuneScape are what called me to try this game. The MMO that everyone claims is the best MMO ever looks like a PS1 game and runs on a complete toaster, while also having cross platform so I could resume the adventure on my phone when away? And a soundtrack that is memorable and actually enjoyable? COUNT ME IN!

Turns out this game is boring and tedious, not even "grinding" seems fun. And don't get me started on the fact that certain SKILLS have to be bought with real money, and the game will NOT stop showing you opportunities to try and convince you to pay, like for example, there is a hole in the ground you could use to dig through to enter a city directly. Oh no, you gotta pay for a Membership to unlock it! Too bad, you will have to walk around the entire fortress of the city to enter if you don't cough up the money.

Just an awful pit of disappointments and broken dreams for me.
