Dragon Age: Origins was my childhood. I miss Leliana’s singing, Alistair’s corny jokes, Oghren passing out in our camp, and so much more. When I think of Origins, I think of Duncan and the battle at Ostagar. I still get goosebumps just reminiscing. So many cherished memories.

With Dragon Age II, I remember our beloved sarcastic Hawke and all the times Isabela called Merrill her “kitten" for being unspoilt by the horrors of the world. It was so wholesome.. The deep conflict between templars and free mages, the fun cast of companions and characters in general. I could write volumes about those experiences.

When it comes to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, I didn’t want to just give in to the hate. I wanted to form my own opinion and give it a fair chance. After almost 30 hours, I can’t take the disappointment any longer. Yes, I see the game has over 70% positive reviews, and many say it’s an “okay” game but a terrible Dragon Age game. And that’s the problem. This IS a Dragon Age game and it reminds you of that during all the knifes pushed directly into your dragon age loving heart.

I’ve never written a Steam review, but I can’t just move on without doing anything this time. After 15 years, I want to leave my pain here in the review section. I know we live in an era where movies, shows, and beloved game franchises are treated "this" way, but writing those words helps a little bit.

The way Isabela looks in Veilguard, the Qunari designs, the complete disregard for the Fade, spirits and demon lore, the shallow character interactions, the soulless soundtrack, cities we know from previous games tossed together like pieces of an unfinished Rubik's cube - it’s too much. I am not a fan of so much negative energy. Thank you for taking the time and reading my review. If you are a true Dragon Age fan leave this "software" be and learn from my pain. Time to go back to Skellige and keep on healing. Much love. Flave
