The Automaton Overlords (Sony) wishes for me to hand over my precious freedom (data) and I find that to be VERY un-democratic.

The major order has been completed, we have defeated the automaton overlord.

Where to start with this review

I was extremely excited for Beyond Light, particularly Europa since I've been waiting for it since I picked up Destiny The Taken King in 2015. The snow covered wastelands and Deep Stone Crypt lore enticed me and I wanted to play on it. When Beyond Light was announced and preorders started, I immediately preordered it and the hype train was rolling.

Yet again, I've been slapped in the face about why I should never preorder something.

Now to the actual review:

Beyond Light is barren just like it's main location Europa
Europa can easily be compared to Destiny 1 Mars: Beautiful but nothing in it to do. The location is just straight up boring and I have no reason to explore the nooks and crannies of the location at all. Additionally, the subclass was the main thing this dlc was riding on. Stasis, while fun, gets old fast in pve and is straight up annoying in pve. Stasis is straight up broken in pvp and it's insane how it got out into the public in the first place.

The Story:
The story is meh at best. While seeing old characters like the exo stranger and Variks is cool, they don't really add too much to the story: Elsie Bray doesn't actually explain anything and Variks doesn't go into depth about what has happened since the last time we've seen him in D1. The story is also way too short, there was not nearly enough time to get attached to any of the characters which made Era Mis not impactful and her "death" didn't get any reaction out of me.

Sandbox and Core Activities:
Sunsetting has come and gone and now we've lost tons of content from the game. Sunsetting isn't a new concept, it happened before in Destiny 1. The difference between then and now is what happened in the dlc that followed. The Taken King added in so much new content that one could easily forget about what they lost and the amount of activities added to core playlists as well as other stuff made it almost overwhelming. Beyond light isn't the same, they removed so much from the core activites and added literally 1 strike back in, no new crucible maps, no new gambit stuff really and the loot from these activities is not enough. Vendors haven't been refreshed either and so a lot of the loot I'm getting is stuff I'm getting back after it had been sunset.

Cosmodrome: I have nothing bad to say about this place except how there is little to do in it. there are no quests and the public events are the same stuff we've already been doing. The skyboxes and textures do look good though. My biggest complaint though is they essentially did a retcon of all of the rise of iron here. They brought back the vanilla D1 cosmodrome and negated any of the changes that happened from siva and the plaguelands in the rise of iron.

I don't really know what else to say here besides the fact that I'm disappointed that for the price that was paid, there was very little content given.

Repetitive: that's the best summary I can give for this game

I was extremely excited for Star Wars Squadrons because I was hyped for a cool singleplayer story set inbetween episodes 6 and 7. I preordered the game and played day 1 and got bored pretty quickly of the strategy for the missions that they go about: go get briefed on the mission, go to the mission and either search and destroy or protect. That strategy is repainted or every mission of the story and it got old pretty quickly. Also the characters in squadrons are really bland and boring and I have no reason to care about any of them. I saw from another review that the campaign was essentially a prolonged tutorial which definitely feels true. I also really don't like being forced to play a certain way during the missions with having to use a certain ship that I don't like to use. Overall, the campaign is unimmersive with constantly switching between rebels and imperials and really uninteresting, nostalgia can only take you so far and the campaign doesn't nearly do a good enough job of making you feel like you are in the Star Wars universe.

On to the multiplayer: I haven't played the multiplayer really but I can see it's a similar case to the campaign, it's really repetitive and it feels like it could have easily been put into the star wars bf2 starfighter gamemode. I got bored during the tutorial mission for the multiplayer since it's the same deal each time and the cosmetic rewards don't entice me to keep playing the multiplayer.

While I'm not gonna personally refund it, I warn anyone who is on the fence about buying it to stay away for now. The game isn't finished in the slightest (no surprise since we're dealing with EA) and the community is gonna get toxic real quick because of the twitter mob trying to wokify the characters of the story and because of the veterans to these types of games absolutely destroying the new players.

Space Engineers is an absolutely amazing game and is my favorite sandbox game of all time for the scifi genre. The mods for this game are what makes it so good as well as the steam workshop, the amount of things you can do with different mods that adds things from new blocks all the way to new ai ships adds so much replayability to the game. The only thing holding this game back is the engine it runs on which is quite old and i've run into a few performance issues at times when playing with certain mods. Overall an amazing game and the thing holding it back only furthers my desire for a second game to be made. Amazing game and i've recommended it to all my friends!

Great game for new players to experience old and new content with lots of different things to do with rewarding activities of all types. Not enough new content though to keep veterans engaged who have already completed all the old activities in the game.
