When I first heard one of my favorite games, Risk of Rain, was getting a sequel that would be 3-D instead of 2-D, I was very excited, but skeptical if they could pull it off. Now, 300+ hours in and 100% of achievements unlocked, I can safely say my expectations were blown away. The essence of the original was kept expertly intact making this game, which gives a familiar but still new and exciting feel. The returning characters and items all retain just enough to keep them true to their form, while tweaking some bits to fit the new environment and play style of a 3-D world. Even the soundtrack returns with the same amazing and atmospheric presence, Chris did a great job with it and I would rank it up with some of my favorite game music like Mick Gordon's Doom soundtrack. I cannot recommend this game enough to fans of rougelikes or really anyone who can appreciate a game that expertly does what it sets out to do.
