Early Access Review
Only reason I have the game marked as not recommended is purely due to me being apart of the small unlucky few that have a freeze bug thanks to the game's multithreading on Windows 11 which freezes my entire PC and requires a forced restart every time.

This bug was 1 in 2 loading screens on launch, I'd say now several days in it's closer to 1 in 5 but it's still too often for me to ignore it.

The game itself so far is very good. I had a lot of issues on launch with how overtuned and stingy everything felt but thanks to the latest update a lot of my concerns are now gone. I would say it's still not a true Path of Exile sequel but more so a very well made Diablo as it's so entirely different. I am still enjoying my time in the game though, and I do hope more fixes and tweaks come out soon

I still have some issues as of this review which are:
- Elite mobs are still hard to notice right away and far too easily to run into like an idiot and die
- Camera is way too zoomed in, and makes it hard to play a mage when you gotta be closer to the boss to see there attacks
- The act's are wayyyyyyyyyyy too long. Especially in Act 2 and 3. They need to remove several zones or shorten them greatly
- Respec should be cheaper or straight up free until like level 30 so that people can adapt and test things as nerfs and changes continue
- Ascendancy trials need to be nerfed or changed, maybe have honour not be affected during the boss fight or if it hits zero instead of losing it instead disables keys/chests at the end.
- The ability to change runes should be in the game
- The ability to change Ascendancy classes should be in the game
- The ability to actually craft should be in the game
- Fix whatever issue is making loading screens happen when you look at the world map, it's annoying and wasn't an issue in PoE1 so idk how it is here

I have no clue why I never played this before. What a fun little RPG from back in the day, and thanks to an active fanbase it's still very runnable and works great on modern hardware and resolutions. I wish more games from this era got the same level of love. I liked that it wasn't a uber serious dramatic moody RPG about Vampires but something more fun, goofy, and the like depending on how you act. I picked Malkavian's cause being a psycho sounded funny and sure enough your character is a psycho 24/7 with how they speak and act, I love that everyone reacts to you being a Malkavian psycho in the game as well.

From what I've seen the second game is not a sequel which is such a bummer. I would have really enjoyed a modern version of this game

Performance is fine if you use DLSS/Frame Gen but there is so many visual bugs with HDR, insane popin a few feet away, and low PS2/PS3 level graphics

I am lucky enough to have an RTX 4090 but I'd hate to play this with something lower

I have played countless hours of the mobile game and do find it a good time killer, when I saw they were bringing it to PC I was quite worried it was going to be a carbon copy and not be a good time. (The mobile game is a idle game where you can click to increase how many customers are in your store)

But to my surprise they completely changed how the game works for PC for the better. It's still very simple like the mobile game besides the fact you can set prices on products (You could open packs/sell cards in the game already). But the ability to actually run and build your shop how you want to is really fun.

For $13 you're getting a simple TCG-themed version of King of Retail and I think that's a bargain. I do hope they continue to expand the game, maybe even go for full fledged King of Retail but for TCG shops (Or do so in a more expensive sequel to justify to cost)

This is a review from someone playing it in 2024

Several bugs have popped up breaking not just my game but have required me to force restart my PC
There is a known visual bug with the code breaker tool at higher resolutions that make using the tool nearly impossible, and the keyboard/mouse controls are dumb and are not rebindable.

I really enjoyed this game back in the day when it first launched on consoles but as a PC game in 2024 it's horrendous

I was surprised when I launched this game with how bad it was compared to how masterfully wonderful Mafia 1 and 2 were. It felt like a completely different game and lacked any of the charm that the prior games had. A real shame.

Much like the first game it's still very linear and on rails but with a bit more "open world"ish mixed in. I think the biggest issue I had with this game was just how dated it looked compared to the first Mafia games definitive edition. But the story and characters were just as interesting as the first if not more so.

Is a great time. The story and gameplay are VERY linear/on rails but it never feels annoying or predictable. It's a short game but it's a solid experience

I will change my review once the game gets a bug fix, but at the moment it's very unplayable.

I have an RTX 4090, playing at 4k and it will mostly run at around 80-100 FPS with DLSS, but it will dip as low as 15-20 FPS in some areas making it very nauseous to me, as that affects my motion sickness

The game also doesn't have a way to start over/make a new game. So if you're like me and make a character that ended up being way too tall on accident you're now forced to play hours of the game as a 10 foot tall ogre until you reach a major city to then go and buy a special item that lets you edit your character instead of just starting over...

I recommend to just go play Dragon Dogma 1 while you wait if you haven't played it already :) $5 on most sites, great game

Game is fairly unplayable nowadays unless you play with specific settings,as the game has a lot of the physics and cutscenes tied to your FPS so if you don't play with the right settings then entire sections of the game will straight up break and leave you needing to reload the game several times or finding these settings to switch to.

I wish I had known all of that sooner, or at the least have the game fixed by the dev team to not have this be an issue but alas it ruined any enjoyment I could've had. Playing Rise of the Tomb Raider and so far it's been a far better experience but will have to see as I get further into it.
