I already knew I was gonna love this game, but then I played it and it took me outback, stole my wallet, my heart, and then gave me a kiss.

Incredible.

The gilded enemy encounter rate makes me want to kill myself
Guess i'll never get 100% achievements

Edit: I encountered one. I'll no longer be killing myself

Why aren't more people talking about this? It's an incredible graphic novel experience- while each individual route may be short, the systems in play throughout give the player a sense that they are really controlling the story, and the mythos involving the werewolves is also very engaging and different from the contemporary standard. The visuals and voice acting are also beautiful, it's definitely something I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys storytelling experiences.

Birdgut is a short, but strong experience that is worth sinking the few hours needed to get 100% completion into. The puzzles and platforming are simple, but challenging enough to be rewarding, and the quick pace of the game keeps you from becoming too frustrated. The art style is also very charming to look at (minus the blood, whoops) to the point that even the death animations are a bit silly.

Scriptwelder is a talented developer and I'm proud to have played every game in the "Don't Escape" series thus far. It was absolutely worth waiting for this game to come out as it ties together elements from both this series and Scriptwelder's other prominent series "The Deepest Sleep" (which you should also give a try sometime) in addition to expanding upon the formula of the previous entries in the series. It's an overall solid survival management experience, and the various paths each day can take combined with several endings and other lore bits make this game worth playing more than once. The pixel graphics are also stunning and the soundtrack complements the theme of the game very well! Give it a try when you have the chance.

Honestly I'm kind of disappointed with this game- at a price of roughly 13 US dollars, there isn't much replayability, and you can get a "perfect" run in 4 hours or less thanks to items which will quite literally tell you the "correct" choices to make. The art style and direction is fantastic, I'll give it that, but the story isn't very compelling, in fact it's quite simple, and that combined with the repetitive gameplay makes it feel lackluster. The achievements are meant to incentivize replaying the game but it's so tedious that I'd rather not go through the trouble. It's not "fun" is what I'm saying, you play it twice (once for normal, once for NG+) and you've pretty much seen it all. All in all it feels like a "nothing" game to me.

THE LONGING is a test of patience, and has some good messages about loneliness and purpose sprinkled within. It's all about time, after all.
