Beautifully cinematic and emotional, especially as the story goes on.

Uninspired and boring storyline with dreadful voice acting (I ended up muting all dialogue for the prologue because the first priest you encounter has clearly been directed to sound nervous and to the voice actor that meant sticking his balls in a vice so his voice cracks every syllable). Combat is flashy and punchy, but as an Australian it's not that fun because no OCE servers. There's just way too much going on, on the screen, with currencies, quests and the placement of menus is unclear (why are the mount and pet collections under "Guides"???). A lot of people excuse many of these issues with "Well it's a Korean MMO" and to that I say boo hoo, the game's origin doesn't mean it has to clunky and cluttered. It might be *why* it looks and feels a certain way, but it doesn't excuse it of criticism. Not for me.

Being able to explore so much of Tamriel in such a pretty game is truly my favourite part of ESO. Some people say there's an over-abundance of microtransactions 'shoved in your face', but you don't need any of them to experience the base game by any means. Crafting is definitely much more realistic with ESO Plus as it grants access to the infinite-capacity 'craft-bag' and I wish that weren't so, but crafting isn't needed as you can always find someone in a guild to craft things for you and just pay them directly. Other than that, there was nothing to obstruct actually playing the game to what I would call a well-above satisfactory level of enjoyment. Definitely my favourite MMO, shortly followed by SWTOR. The use of their pre-existing universes to build a living, breathing MMO is what makes games like that more appealing to me.

With no nostalgia goggles on, no nitpicks or petty complaints to make, and as someone who got this game for free during the download-and-keep period that's currently on: I really love this game. A lot of people talking about the characters abilities and such not being true to Quake or whatever, and be that as it may the game is still a hell of a lot of fun. Easily my favourite modern arena shooter (though there aren't many heavy contenders these days any). The game's a lot of fun, and that's honestly all I care about in an arena shooter.

I don't usually bother writing reviews, but scrolling down and seeing "not recommended" reviews by people saying "The games amazing but it has microtransactions so you shouldn't buy it, even though I clearly did", is getting on my nerves.

I'm loving this game, and I don't believe I'd love it or find it any easier by buying the war crates (MT's). The game actually gives you 500 premium currency to try it out with anyway, unless that was just from me inadvertently completing a couple of challenges. They didn't really do a whole lot for me, and I could've easily just levelled up my orcs by playing the game. The gear I got was even worse; none of it even coming close to the things I'd already found in-game so far.

Also I'd love it if someone could explain to me how having daily challenges means the game is grindy? They're additional, meaningless challenges and do nothing to the story whatsoever.

Now that's out of the way, there is the issue of the game being repetitive. This is the biggest qualm I've got with Shadows of War, but personally it's found it to be only just as repetitive as Shadows of Mordor only with more stuff to do, more goals to achieve.

The game runs at a stable 70+ FPS at all times on my rig; GTX 1070, i5-6600K and 8GB of DDR4 @1080p.

Talion's facial model was changed, and that's something you'll probably notice right away. Took me a while to get used to it, but it wasn't jarring enough for me to really care; a bit like the voice actor change for Cole McGrath from inFAMOUS 1-2 on PS3.

All in all, I'm glad I bought this game despite the reviews. If you're someone who's boycotting the game due to MT's, they're as non-intrusive as those that were in Deus Ex: MD. They're not in your face and you can happily play through the game with only being reminded of them the first time you earn premium currency through challenges.

I can't join any servers, but there's already a screen made for cases and skins, before any have even been implemented. I understand that skins help F2P games and they're a fair go, but clearly a game's been funded before relying on skins and I'd rather see more things put into the game before I'm met with the prospect of giving additional money.
