UPDATED MY REVIEW AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, KEEPING THIS AS A LOG OF WHY THE GAME WAS NOT RECOMMENDED AT FIRST:

---------------------------------------------
Sony has walked back their decision and listened to the community. Arrowhead was innocent in this whole affair and this decision was pushed upon them by Sony, and initially agreed on.

TL:DR Arrowhead good, Sony was bad
---------------------------------------------

With a ♥♥♥♥♥ opening for the port over to PC, then when mostly everything is fixed, they pull the rug out and alienate their PC audience by later requiring sign up for the PSN network. I was one of the folks who were part of the data breach back in 2011. I've had a few fraud alerts between then and 2015, had to do a full lock down and do a little switch up with my logins.

It left a bad taste, and the company has been making odd ball decisions ever since.

We used to be friends Sony, now I can't even touch your products. If they decide to do the right thing and walk this back for our PC port, I'll re-update.

FOR THE GAME ITSELF:
It's a fun game loop for fighting against ridiculous odds with your friends.
With the varied weapons and gadgets, with hilarious rag doll physics, this game can be fun.
Many hours of enjoyment can be had while grinding out upgrades for your helldiver.

Early Access Review
The Guild 3 is a family dynasty simulator set back in Europe 1400. The appeal comes in by laying the foundation of your dynasty. You can do anything from farming to making your coin by taking it from unfortunate others.

As for progression, you can further your family by becoming a shrewd business person, or taking over offices to manipulate the law in your favor.

It is graphicly passable, and an alright musical score. The meat of the matter is the options available to you at any time to build, sidestep, or overcome anything in the game to progress.

Money is the main way they maintain flow and progression in the game. You can "live" and continue as a beggar, but to become a "full citizen" (to have access to application process for office) you'll need to rake in some dough performing in some profession.

Overall, I rate it a decent time killer.

Let's clear the air right now. Pissed that Konami blocked Hideo Kojima from receiving his rightful reward? Yup, I agree that was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing to do. Was Hideo and Konnami both being petty about things? Maybe. If you can't get past this, then stop right here. Enjoy your day, be free my child.

Still here?

Okay.

Would I recomend this game? Yes.

PROS:
○ More milage for less $$$ than most triple AAA titles out to date (32 hours in and still haven't reached the end)
○ Many options to modify your play style as you progress (More materials, more crates = diffrent equipment)
○ Online salvage missions are short enough to sit down, try new things, blow up crap, and get new gear
○ Story is light and slightly intriguing without being crammed down your throat

CONS:
○ Zombies
○ Some old assets
○ Extremely hard to start, until you get your base up and running ( 2-3 hours before your not starving every second

There you have it folks. I wouldn't recomend it for everyone, but if you liked running Mother Base, and enjoyed managing soldiers on expiditions, this ones for you. Great online play, decent solo content, passable story.

Tooth and Tail, First Impressions

When one thinks of a recent RTS, a few might come to mind:
Planetary Annihilation, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, Ashes of the Singularity, etc.

Following pace of new games in the RTS genre, this game is fast pace with a bit of a story pulling it through.

Now, don't get me wrong. There are defensive structures and "bases" in the form of windmills to keep your economy (food) going. These are important, but can't be your main focus through the game. There are some missions requiring you to only defend for XXX amout of time, but most missions require you to Zerg rush your oponents and ambush their economy (food) production as fast as possible.

So far, here are the pros and cons I've found:

PROS
  • Colorful pixel styled units
  • Easy controls for mouse/keyboard or gamepad
  • Diverse story missions

CONS
  • No unit descriptions (besides flavor text, no direct indication on what each unit counters)
  • Some levels designed to be maze like
  • Tutorial only explains movement and utilization of first faction you control

I'll update this into a full review after trying all the features (i.e. multiplayer). For now, the game does not seem worthy of the 20.00 USD price tag.

Feel free to comment or share your findings or views!

ENDLESS SPACE 2

Store Page

A great turn based 4x game that brings sleek visuals and great core mechanics together.
An improvement upon the original Endless Space and a guaranteed afternoon killer.

If you haven't stepped into the 4x turn based space empire simulations before, the tutorials will make it fairly easy to get aquainted with the basics. As with all games of this type, there is a bit of a learning curve but a well fleshed out game waits right behind it.

PROS
  • Every race provides a unique, new way to play
  • Great initial tutorial with tips and suggested actions if needed
  • Custom ship designs with easy module snapping
  • Multiple ways to achieve victory
  • Developers releasing bug fixes almost daily, willing to hear feedback

CONS
  • While stylized, the interface operates on symbols which can be confusing at first
  • Some reading required before understanding how diffrent races operate
  • Somewhat steep learning curve
  • Early release bugs

Summary

Endless Space 2 is fun and engaging if you enjoy anytype of empire building, strategy game. Even with the learning curve and few release bugs, the developers are listening to players on the forums making this game a worthwhile purchase.

Project Highrise does follow in SimTower's footsteps, but brings a bit more intriuge and challange to the mix.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROS:

-Utilities add a whole new level of complexity. You need to accomadate a utility closet on each floor to bring phone, electric, and cable.

-Advertise to bring in additional visitors, offer ad space to utility companies to get a discount, promote your 5 star restraunts

-A varity of businesses that accomadate other businesses. Create an ecosystem in your tower.

-Get assistance from business consultants and lawers to grease city halls wheels.

-STEAM WORKSHOP CONTENT

CONS:

-Any store, office, apartment buit will not show the required utility connections once set. You need to go back into the build menu, or wait until the new residence complain about not have one service.

-Sometimes, a tennant's reason for leaving isn't always completely clear.

-The "High Traffic, low traffic" desires of tennants are a bit hard to determine exactly how to accomplish.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TL:DR

Fun if you enjoyed SimTower with a nice bit of depth and additional challanges. Workshop support enabled, but the game is young and could use a few improvements.

Everything SimCity should have been. This fantastic city simulation offers the best control and customization options to bring your City to life. Chances are, if your into the city simulation genre then you already own it. If not, highly consider it.

-Easy use flowing road creation and zoning tool
-Simulation formula that strikes the perfect balance (Challenge but mostly open about how to advance)
-Built in mod tools (Basic adding props to assets, or import of complete buildings)

Easy to obtain mods that adjust and tweek the sim engine to create the perfect game session.

If you enjoy the upgrading and strategy seen in higher and tower defense and squad management games, then pick this up. Varried missions that give you choice on which targets to strike first and where to allocate your research. Branching story arc and bonus missions keep things fresh a bit longer.

Pros:
- In depth Stategy (Varied enemies with possible mutations that changes the game)
- Loads of Upgrades/Research Items
- Bite sized missions to more difficult, bonus and random missions.

Cons:
- Short Storyline
- Research/purchasable items not clearly described
