An absolutely wonderful game that will bring you on a roller coaster ride of emotion. The gameplay is basically Earthbound, but with its own incredibly charming art style. Great turn based JRPG mechanics with a goofy, colorful, and interesting world that would fit perfectly into the Mother series.

Unlike the Earthbound, Omori takes its story to much deeper and darker places, but does so with nuance and perspective that I have not seen before in a game. The writing itself is fantastic, there are countless set ups and subtle symbolism that all end up paying off the further you play. While the story does explore darker themes, it's much more than just a depression simulator. I found myself tearing up at the sad parts, but also at the happy parts, the nostalgic parts, and the beautiful artistic parts. There are moments in this game that I know will be used as examples for how games can achieve artistic heights as great as any other medium.

I honestly wasn't expecting that much from Omori when I first saw the trailer in 2014, but it ended up taking the number one spot on my personal list of best indie games. I highly recommend it and hope the sales reflect the appreciation this game deserves
