Let me start with the simple thing first; I do recommend this game.

I could tell you about how this might be the greatest fantasy wargame title ever created, with a turn-based campaign and real-time battles. How they have managed to implement battlefield magicians and spell-casting and balanced it against sword- and axe wielding warrior heroes and how your choice of legendary lord can impact your campaign. I could speak of how many races, units and how much content there actually is in this game, how much re-playability. Between Warhammer 1, 2 and 3 I got more than 5000 hours. There are a ton of good reasons to like this game, and get it. However, I will also tell you about the downside.

You see, if you do not own any of the previous titles or DLC a large portion of the game is locked behind a paywall that is very expensive. For many of us this wasn't a problem, as we have bought a DLC here, a DLC there, and the games as they came out, over time. If you want everything unlocked quickly though the cost is prohibitively expensive. Luckily, these days the grand Immortal Campaign is unlocked once you own Warhammer III. You no longer need to own all three games. I would however recommend getting Warhammer I and II as well as that unlocks a lot of factions.

Now, back to the positive. This game is pretty nice looking, the graphics are on point and the campaign map is gorgeous. The music is pretty good as well and the sound effects, they hit the mark there. The sounds and voice overs in this game are pretty awesome. I could listen to Malekith complain about snow all day.

I do recommend this game. Just beware it is quite expensive to get into if you do not have any of the DLC or previous games. I think that's worth saying twice.

I tend to rate the games I review on a D6. My die also have x.5s. Nothing like that here however. Warhammer 3 is a straight up 5/6. What holds it down from a 6? I do take the price into consideration, but a few of the graphical assets are now slightly dated since it do use some assets for units and effects from both previous titles.
