I'm about 2/3 of the way through this game and I'm having a blast. Knowing the game still has a roadmap coming in 2025 makes it all the more exciting. The difficulty scaling options are pretty brilliant. I'm not big on permadeath, but the possibility of "you can bonk your head with the trunk of your wagon, die, and it deletes your save file" might appeal to some.

The feeling of the wind in my hair is fantastic until I realize I can't withstand 5Gs and have to back down to 4G LTE

(I don't know how to fly a plane).

No Man's Sky falls into an elite subcategory of sandbox games that are so effective at giving sandbox options that I overthink simple things like shelter and have to stop playing before the tension headache gets any worse.

This being said, this game is the game I play when I've lost the spark in my life. From the lush planets with purple plains and seas of blue, to the anomalous planets littered with floating beacons of light. From running away from sentinels that chase you for existing in their presence, to petting a glowing soccer ball you stole off one of the weird planets. From "ship watching" at a local trading post, to admiring the splendor of the stars. This game has gotten me through some of the toughest moments of my life and inspired me to create.

Never be on the fence: The game is always on sale for $30, and can give you one of the most beautiful gaming experiences of any game on this platform if you allow yourself to explore and roam the vast universe.

A lot of memories. Smashing faces with Ballistic Shields as that Satisfying "bonk" signaled a subtraction from the enemy's defense capability. Slithering through hallways catching unaware attackers with puffs from a near silent Taurus Pistol and forcing them to sign their teammates' death warrants in their own blood. And broken guns and tools that were so broken, Ubisoft had to make them nearly unusable for people to stop picking the associated operator.

If its your game, you're already playing it. But my time in this game has long passed. Onto the future...

I think this is the only game I truly mourn for. Not only is it one of the few games I can't recommend, but it involves my favorite franchise of all time. As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I had the highest of hopes for this title to give me the illusion of being a Rebel pilot fighting the Empire and live out my childhood fantasies. It did that, for a short while, Then the team announced their vision for the game was complete, and left it with minimal experiences and enough cosmetics that you could successfully unlock all of them in the time you would have experienced every scenario.

The players in this game, much like the Jedi, are all but extinct. The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen. The spark of hope fades. Hopefully one day, that spark will be reignited. Until then, May the Force Be With You.

I used to think I could valiantly charge into the Amazon rainforest, cut down trees to make a shelter, and live in one of the most sultry looking places on Planet Earth.

Then I bought this game, and got bit 6 times by a rattlesnake and then mauled by a Jaguar 5 minutes in. Tremendous and eye opening experience.

Friends, I have a confession:

I sold all of my Rust Skins for Ground Branch. Then found out Ground Branch wouldn't crest 30FPS on a 1080TI so I returned it and bought Ready or Not. Then I couldn't play Ready or Not without having an AED near my desk because I got jumpscared so many times. And then I used the rest of the money to buy Shark Cards in GTA and cheap sim games.

Long story short, I play Rust until the AK kids come, and then I go play something else for 6 months until the nostalgia kicks in.

As a good friend once said: Rust is bad for the brain. So can I recommend it? I don't know. You decide.

Early Access Review
I only have 5 hours in this game for 2 reasons:

1. Doctor says its not good for my heart.
2. I try to minimize the number of underwear changes to once a day.

10/10 if you take asprin.

I recently watched the Golden Age film Sunset Boulevard. In the film, a washed up silent film actress and her butler kidnap a broke screenwriter and force him to do anything the actress asks because she is actually mentally ill and her life depends on feeling loved by everyone, despite the fact that everyone finds her insufferable.

That's the Public Lobby experience. Only difference is you can now do all your CEO work in Private Sessions, so you don't end up like poor Joe Gillis while Norma Desmond is flying around the map on an Oppressor MK2.
