Daugavpils is located relatively close to Belarus and Lithuania (distances of 33 km (21 mi) and 25 km (16 mi), respectively), and some 120 km (75 mi) from the Latvian border with Russia. Daugavpils is a major railway junction and industrial centre, and was an historically important garrison city lying approximately midway between Riga and Minsk, and between Warsaw and Saint Petersburg.
Atreus, born among the Rakkor—a warlike people dwelling on the slopes of Mount Targon—was destined for battle. Despite not being the strongest or most skilled warrior, he persevered, enduring defeat after defeat. His fierce rivalry with fellow recruit Pylas forged an unbreakable brotherhood.
When Atreus and Pylas encountered a barbarian incursion, surviving where others fell, they vowed to ascend Mount Targon and capture the power of the Aspects. At the summit, only Atreus remained. The Aspect of War took control of his body, seeking Darkin—a task deemed too great for mortals.
In battle against Darkin Aatrox, the impossible occurred: Aatrox’s blade struck Pantheon, carving the constellation of War from the heavens. As the Aspect faded, Atreus—the once-considered weak warrior, impaled but defiant. His will to live defied death itself, and he became the nigh-unstoppable paragon of battle.
