THIS MEANS SOMETHING TO ME MAN,
Really fun time so far, a little rough around the edges at times but I can forgive that for how much I have enjoyed my time with the game. Can't wait to see what comes in the future

Early Access Review
You know how in big Hollywood movies, they make cocaine look like energetic euphoria?
That's how this game feels to play by level 4

Bringing Tenpai, a deck that effortlessly breaks boards & kills going 2nd in a best of 1 format with barely 1 hit was certainly a choice. Play Tenpai or die against it, your choice. Game is hardly playable until they address the deck.

One of the best card based games I've ever played. Even then I highly recommend the game, I don't want to spoil anything as this game is best gone into as blind as possible, but simply put this game is wonderful.

Great gameplay, wonderful aesthetic & atmosphere, I can't think of much I'd want to change, and even then there is an up and coming modding scene for the game as well as a certain *beta feature* that I highly recommend if the game gets it's hooks in you.

One of the best steam purchases I've made in a good while and certainly a game that I can get back into more than most. Almost like Yu-Gi-Oh but not constantly overpriced...

TLDR: Just buy the damn game already if the idea of a spooky card game with no jumpscares entices you

It has it's issues but it's fun, I'd wait to see if things get added in (like controller/keyboard keybinding, like come on) but other than that, it's janky but fun. Online also seems to work quite well, I have really bad internet but had no issues in a match, got in one quickly, played a match & all was good as could be it seems.
Again, I'd mostly recommend waiting for there to be a patch to add in some needed features, overall promising though.

Update: game is basically dead and not worth playing, there are better (and far cheaper) alternatives, it was fun for a minute until the honeymoon period ended, overall just really bland, clunky & way too expensive for so little content (really should be at most $30 and even then that feels steep, including the paid dlc)

As a game, I can't respect it more, but unless you are wanting to see what came before rebirth/repentance.. just get rebirth.
This game IS harder but for all the wrong reasons and it just makes it unfun to play at times.
- Bosses and enemies feel way too tanky, that or damage upgrades do about half of what they do in rebirth (small rock & halo and I can't 1 tap a spider yet)
- Eternal enemies are far too frequent and almost any room with them is a nightmare scenario.
- many hitboxes are just way too big or way too small
- Either the controls feel delayed ever so slightly that it makes you feel like a slug, or your base movement speed as isaac is awfully slow.

Long story short, while I heavily respect this game, especially for setting the foundations for one of my favorite games of all time, it has aged like a fine milk.
Music and art is still pretty decent though
