This is one of the best mods I have ever played for Half-life 2.

This mod, as I speak, has been played by about one million players. There is a possible chance that you have already heard of this mod; honestly, there's no point in making this review, you should already know that this mod is fantastic. It just goes to show how strong the Half-life and Source community is. A great example of an amazing Half-life mod is Half-Life Echoes, some people, like me, can't get enough of Half-life.

When I first played Transmission Element 120, somewhere around 2015 I think, I was blown away by it; to this day, I am still blown away by it. I still find stuff in this mod that I didn't know or see before. My favorite part of the mod is actually the final area, where you are tasked with taking down striders because it's so action-packed and so much chaos is happening.

Pros:
Alright, let's cut the sh*t, we all know why we are here and why this mod got so popular. One of the leading factors for why this mod is amazing and different from other mods is because of the new weapon, the Gravity Concussion Gun.
The Gravity Concussion Gun is extremely fun to use and it's pretty much the only weapon I use throughout the whole mod. I just can't get enough of it, I could use it forever, and forever, and forever, and forever, and fore… wait, what was I doing? Oh yeah, For me, personally, I love that there is a new weapon because I want new Half-life weapons. Whenever there is a new weapon or a rework in a Half-life mod, whether it's amazing or not, it always makes me happy and gives me a boner.. umm I mean it gives me a different and new experience. I also, personally, think that it's the best fan-made weapon in a Half-life mod that I have ever played with because of how fun it is to use.
The Gravity Concussion Gun is completely different than the Gravity Gun, for example, it shoots energy balls, can’t pick up stuff, and it’s red instead of being orange. This weapon made the mod stand out and more memorable because of how unique and different it was than other mods. Because of the Gravity Concussion Gun, it created new gameplay mechanics and epic moments for the player.
It sometimes feels like your not just playing a Half-Life mod, but it feels like something that Valve made. Even the main developer thought the same way about his mod. This mod is so f*cking awesome that Gearbox wanted to do a job interview with the main developer; I don’t know if the developer did anything with them or not.
From my digging, research, and speculation, people seem to have the most amount of fun with the Gravity Concussion Gun than any other part of the game; not that everything else in the mod sucks, it just seems to be people’s most favorite part about the mod.

The detail in this mod is astounding to me: just looking at all of the stuff that the developer put around his game is interesting for me for some reason. I think the reason why I keep observing the environment around me is because I want more of it, but I'll come back to that issue later. I love looking at the lighting, the props, the arena and everything else in this mod because I want more, as I said before. Sometimes, I like messing around with the environment by throwing stuff all over the place and just f*cking around.

The level of playtesting is very strong in this mod because every time I try to break the game, I can't do it. I don't know why I'm like this, but I love breaking people's games and I do it all of the time in mods and games. A great example was me breaking Year Long Alarm, seriously I did right as I started gaming it. But, in this mod I can't do it, the developer has thought up of pretty much everything. I tried taking a turret with me, but, I couldn't do it, I tried getting to an area without the Gravity Concussion Gun but I couldn't do it. The developer who made this mod did an outstanding job.

The level design is incredible beyond belief, it was made just for the Gravity Concussion Gun.
Like I said earlier before, my favorite area in the mod is the strider section because it's so absolutely crazy. I have never been screaming in fear in Half-life for a long time. I was on a roof and fell into an alleyway, the Gravity Concussion Gun saved my life though, however, several Combine soldiers were storming my position and a strider was blowing up a building next to me trying to get to me; I was f*cking panicking.

Now let's get to the problems I have this mod; I think everyone would agree on them.

Cons:
The most common complaint with this mod is that it is too damn short because people want more.
I especially want more from this mod because there's a lot of potential for a game with just the Gravity Concussion Gun, but it just ends. I know that deep down in my heart that it is enough to have fun and overwhelming experience. But, everyone else, including myself, wishes there was more.
The framerate in this mod can kill your PC a little bit, but honestly, I had too much fun to notice it. It's just a small complaint from me.

In conclusion, is Transmission: Element 120 worth playing?
I would say, "What the f*ck are you still doing, play it alrighty!! You f*cking dumb sh*t play it!!".......... Sorry, I need to calm down.
I don't know who or why somebody could hate this mod, it is truly a mod of astoundment. Well, actually, my brother back then said he didn't like the mod, I don't know why though.

I would give this mod a 10/10 and next time I have the chance to have sexual intercourse, I'll deny it and just play Transmission: Mission 120 instead.

It's Half-life 1, but it's on the Source engine.

Pros:
- It's Half-life 1
- It has somewhat better-looking graphics
- Ross Scott used it for Freeman's mind….. Yeah, I can't think of anything else besides it being HL1 and having somewhat better-looking graphics.

Cons:
- This port feels weird, I don't know why that is, but I feel odd when playing this. I think it may be a lot of things about this port that makes me feel uncomfortable. Maybe it's because of the slightly faster movement, the ragdoll physics, the new and improved lighting, or how blowing up enemies feels less satisfying. This game is too weird for me, I am more use to the Gold Source version/ original more than this port.


Half-life Source is just an unusual thing that came from Valve. To be honest with you, nobody wanted this port to begin with. Back then, when people heard Half-life 1 was being ported into the Source Engine, most people originally and mistakenly thought it was a remake; which people really wanted. But, it wasn't and most people weren't interested anymore. I think Valve also had another plan to port Source into Half-life Opposing Force; but, after the mixed criticism of Half-life Source, they cut the project (who knows, probably a smart move).

We would have to wait a long time for an actual Half-life 1 remake, which was Black Mesa. Although it's a mod, it's still a damn good game.
Another group named Tripmine Studio is trying to remake Half-Life: Opposing Force and Blue Shift (those mods are under the names Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty).

In conclusion, is Half-life Source good?
Half-life Source is kind of like ordering something that sounds delicious, but then, you look at it and it looks like somebody got it from the garbage.

Just play the original or buy Black Mesa. I wouldn't recommend this port unless you wanted to have another reason to play Half-life 1 again, like me.
If this is your first time playing Half-life, THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!
Go play the original game and have fun. Also, please don’t play Black Mesa first, play it after.

I don't approve this version of Half-life 1; but, I'll play it if I want to play Half-life 1 again differently.

The games I always come back playing are Xcom2 and Hoi4. Hearts of Iron 4 is an amazing game in my eyes. I'm a huge history buff, so, this game is kind of for me. But it's not just that, it's entertaining as all hell. I've had so many memorable moments in this game and will never forget them. So many memes; like my boi ALF LANDON!!!!!!

JUST LOOK AT HOW MANY HOURS I HAVE IN THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS CHRIST!!!!
What makes me love this game is its mods; I love them all, for the most part at least. Man, that’s also how I feel about Xcom 2.

This next section is about the mod Kaiserreich.

This part of the review doesn’t really have anything to do with the base game. I just really want to talk about Kaiserreich. If you want to know stuff about the base game, then this section isn’t for you.



I personally think that Kaiserreich is one of the greatest mods of all time. In fact, it’s one of the most thought out mods of all time.
This mod asks the question: “What if Germany had won ww1?”
This is an alternate history mod, it has nothing to do with our own timeline.

PROS:
- Gameplay: the gameplay is addicting because the developers try to add new gameplay mechanics. The focus trees are well thought out and entertaining to use; some of them are really long (which I love).
- Detail: The detail in this mod is amazing. I don’t mean the graphics, I mean the world of Kaiserreich. This mod has its own lore and history. The events in this mod are completely original and new. But, that’s not why I love them: I love them because they’re not always about war. For example, there's an event about how Winston Churchill writes a book called, “Our Finest Hour;” it’s about if the allies won ww1 and everyone thinks he’s an idiot. Also, because of that one event, some other modders made a mod called Fuhrerreich; it's about what if the allies won world war 1 through the kaiserreich universe’s eyes. That’s also an interesting mod as well, but I'm getting off topic.
They even make their own trailers for the countries you can play as in the mod. This series is called the World Of Kaiserreich. These trailers always gets me pumped up. When the Russian trailer comes out, I will be jlzzing my pants.

How I even discovered Kaiserreich could not have gone any better. I was at a convention with some of my friends, keep in mind that I was just getting into and just purchased Hoi4, one of my friends told me to play Kaiserreich. The only thing he told me was that it was an alternate history mod. So, I go on the steam workshop and I browsed for Kaiserreich. The only thing they were promoting were two videos; the two videos, at the time, were about Britain and Austria-Hungary. I watched the British video and I was fu cking blown away; I installed it immediately and played as Britain. Then, I got gang r@ped by most of the nations of the world.
Did I mention this mod can be hard as fu ck?

I would say Kaiserreich gets a strong 9 out of 10 for me. I don’t have any problems with Kaiserreich, I honestly think it’s better than the base game.
My favorite countries to play as are:
Russia: SO MANY OPTIONS!!! But for me, I love restoring the Tzar back into power.
America: That civil war is awesome man. I love playing as MacArthur and I also love playing as the American Union State.
Brazil: All I have to say is C O M E T O B R A Z I L !!!!

What a good game, I've never wanted to kill my.. I MEAN....... I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!! This game has such a to good of a good story? UMM.......... This game is horrendous and I question why it's on steam!! I even asked some reviewer if I should buy it, his short answer was basically "no." I should have listened to him. Half-Life 2 Downfall is like going to a fancy restaurant, ordering food and then the waiter comes back and gives you 1 quarter of what you asked for.

I'm going to say this: I don't think this mod is bad, I hate how it just ends. I do have a lot of thoughts about this mod and how it's probably dead (that's most mods in a nutshell) If you like this mod, I really don't care about you or your thoughts. I do think this is a good mod, I was just fooled is all.

Pros:
- It's a Half-Life 2 EP2 mod.
- The environment looks alright.
- Level design is fine I guess.
- The gameplay is also fine because it's just HL2
- The music is well… HL2 so it's good
- Okay basically it's HL2 EP2 so it's pretty much good, but there's no Alyx.

Cons:
- The story sucks because well….. there isn't much of a story other than how the Combine want to destroy scientist technology. Who are these scientists? Why does the Combine want to destroy the tech? Why are the scientists not at White Forest? What's so important about this tech? None of these fu cking questions will be answered because I think the developer stop all means of development for the mod. I say this because the Mod DB page and the steam version hasn't been updated since 2017 in the timing of this review. Well I guess that mystery will never be fu cking solved.
- This mod is too short, what the fu ck dude? How this mod ends I found to be laughable for some reason. The mod just ends, which sucks because I would like to play more of the mod.
- This mod was fun, but it sucks how the mod isn't finished and probably never will be finished. I'm pi ssed off that the game doesn't have more to offer, I am very disappointed with this mod. :(

Half-Life 2 Downfall isn't a bad mod, it's just not finished. If you love mods, play this because you'll get some enjoyment out of it. Maybe someday the developer will come back to work on the mod, kind of like how my wife left me and took the kids with her. Anyways, pretty good mod actually, you should play it. Though don't be expecting a finished mod. But I can say how this mod is better than HDTF and Wilson Chronicles; those mods suck ass don't play them.

Okay seriously though, a mod that is similar to Downfall is Mission Improbable. This mod is really fu cking awesome and is my favorite EP2 mod out there. The story is basic but workable, there's a new character who is beautiful (no ♥♥♥♥), gameplay is fun and the mod is fu cking FINISHED!!!!! OMG!!!! Mission Improbable is incredible and fun as hell!! Downfall may not be finished, but Mission Improbable is. I could suck Mission Improbable's di ck all day!! Just play it already!!

I'm getting off topic, sorry about that. Downfall is a pretty alright mod, play it. I just hope maybe some day the developer will finish it.

Half-Life Caged is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Masterpiece.

I think this is one of my favorite Goldsource mods out there, this is a Half-Life 1 mod that should be played by everyone a fan of the series. I've played Caged so many times, that I have forgot how many times I've played it. I would suck on Cayle George's di ck if it means we get a sequel. I love this game so much, so many things. I'm probably going to play it again after this review.

Pros:
-The level design is amazing, this feels like it was made by Valve. While technically speaking, Cayle George used to work for Valve.
- The Soundtrack is so good, it's has an 80’s vibe to it.
- This game is hard as ♥♥♥♥♥ and I love that.
- The setting was interesting, I like the idea of breaking out of jail.
- The only story is to BREAK OUT!!!
- The Developer Commentary was interesting
- The gameplay is like having the best organism ever.

Cons:
Ummmmmm…. I don't like ummmm………………. Idk…… I got nothing guys.

In conclusion, play this mod!!!!!!!!!!!! Also when you're done with this mod, go install HL R.E.C.A.G.E.D!!! It adds it even more fu cking things like weapons, enemies, music, and a more hard difficulty. And then you can go listen to the Developer Commentary. But then, you can go buy the Executive plumber that's like three dollars, I've been meaning to buy it to fund the developers. Then you can get all of the achievements in Caged. And then you could..okay I'll stop, sorry.

Better than Wilson Chronicles and HDTF because real game designers made this game!!!!

This mod is boring in my eyes:

Half-life 2: Year Long Alarm feels no different than other mods like it, or at least the mods I've played. This mod is just a boring shooting gallery with nothing new in it.

Pros:
- It's Half-life 2, coool?
- The environment looks good, but that's not saying much since I broke the fu cking game as I started playing it. Do you want to break your immersion though? This is how you do it:
Step 1: Launch the game (Obviously)
Step 2: Make a new game
Step 3: You wake up in a room and you see the hole in the ceiling and in the wall right? That's important and the main focus.
Step 4: Get the Gravity Gun that's in front of you. You can use it to kill the scanner if you really want to, but that's optional.
Step 5: The developer I guess decide to make all of the boxes break when you jump on them. Luckily, being a dumbasss, he puts in barrels all over the place. So this is really step 5: Take two barrels and stack them on top of each other up, against the wall where that hole is.
Step 6: Climb on top of the barrels.
Step 7: Take out your Gravity Gun, aim it at your feet (barrel) and you should be on top of the barrel. Then you press mouse 1, aka you just fire the Gravity Gun at the barrel. Now this is going to send you flying in the air.
Step 8: If this takes you a long time to do this, don't worry because I believe in you. Once you are flying in the air, you can clip into the edge of the hole in the wall. If you can't clip to the edge, then you can still see what's outside of the hole while flying into the air. But once you see what's outside the hole, I think you will find it beautiful. Also, yes I did all of this when I started up the game; ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I have no life.


-I'm not going to lie. I think this mod has some good ideas, honestly I do.
- I do like how the whole mod is just one map and has prefect FPS. I love that!!

Cons:
-This mod is boring, I have played so many mods similar to this game. Mods like Mission Improbable, Overflow, Downfall, or even Minerva are mods that I think are better. I don't think this mod sucks, I just think It's a mod that I wouldn't want to play again. Anyways, I think the developer did a good job. If there was a natural rating, I would put it for my review instead of a negative. Too bad that's not an option.

At least I can say it's better than HDTF and Wilson Chronicles. Those developers can go choke on a Chinese ballsack in the back of a Arby's. Ok I'm leaving now, goodbye.

You're probably expecting me to say how this game sucks. Well, I’m not really going to be doing that because I think this game is actually okay.

Blue Shift doesn’t really add anything new, it’s just more of Half-life. I’ll start with the Pros….

PROS:
- It has Half-life 1’s gameplay so it’s pretty great.
- It expands the Half-life lore so I guess that’s cool
- You play as a Security Guard, the protagonist in Blue Shift is Barney Calhoun. Since you play as Calhoun, you get armor from taking vests and helmets off of dead Security Guards; I like this idea a lot because you can’t just use the HEV charging stations anymore, it makes the game feel a little bit more fresh.
- It adds in the HD pack, I don’t like the HD pack all that much but some people do; but I do like the shotgun model.

I guess that’s it, NOW FOR THE CONS….

CONS:
- THERE’S NO NEW ENEMIES OR NEW WEAPONS!!! Nothing is new at all.
- Dr. Rosenberg is so fu cking annoying: he gets stuck at walls, sometimes he doesn’t follow me and he doesn’t shut the fu ck up. At least I can kill him, but then the game resets. :(
- The soundtrack is barely visible, I only heard two tracks back in XEN and both tracks were forgettable as hell.
- Oh yeah and FU CKING XEN!!!!! YOU GO BACK TO XEN FOR A WHOLE CHAPTER AND IT’S SO FU CKING TEDIOUS!!!
- The game is really short, shorter than Opposing Force. I think it’s about an hour long.

In Conclusion, I think this game is okay. For some reason, everyone likes kicking Blue Shift’s ballsack because it’s an easy target. Personally, I disagree with those people, but I can also see why they would think that way. Blue Shift is probably my fourth favorite Half-life game in the series, I think you should give Blue Shift a try if you played Half-life 1. Joel Vinesauce likes comparing HL1 and its expansions that Half-life 1 is kind of like the burger, Opposing force are the fries, and Blue Shift is the milkshake. I agree with that statement for some reason, I don’t know why.

Played about 3 minutes of Fast Detect and it made me want to drink my own plss. I thought the game looked fantastic; however, the weapon skins are stolen and the game is fu cking lagging on me. Anyways, I'm gonna go hang myself, not because of this game because I played Wilson Chronicles. Fast Detect doesn't look like the worst mod ever made or even the worst mod I've ever played. But imagine drinking a Sprite bottle, plssing in it and then giving it to your friend. Okay probably not that bad but you get my drift.

FAST DETECT IS BETTER THAN HDTF AND WILSON CHRONICLES! BUT STILL, DON'T PLAY IT!!!!!

Mods like this make me wonder how the fu ck they got on steam in the first place?
