OK, that was fun but also hard. Final stage took me a really long time to figure out. I love this idea, great game.

I usually like to "finish" a game before reviewing but this one might be hard to 100%.

OK so, to start off: Graphics are nice, there are some really really good sprites in this game. Music is hit or miss, there's a lot of variety and you're sure to find at least 1 you like _a lot_. Story was meh for me personally, maybe it'd be more significant if I had played the other games. Gameplay is the big draw here, though.

So onto gameplay: first of all, it is a bit overwhelming in my personal opinion. Luckily everything is thrown at you progressively but oh boy is there A LOT to do and grind. There's about 1,000 creatures, they each have unique passives called traits (yes, 1,000 and all unique), and some other unique stuff you'll have to play to understand. There's also a ton of classes your main character can be, which changes battles immensely. So on that front, there's a lot to play with if that's your thing. There's also a lot of spells, there's in a sense different game modes, there's a lot of accessibility to speed up things, change difficulty, all the bells and whistles. It's a really well made game in my opinion.

Anyway, that's about as much as I can explain without spoiling too much, now I gotta get back to the grind.

Fun game. Some of the min maxing is a bit frustrating (resource caps and a few very active segments) but it was much more enjoyable than a lot of other incrementals in my opinion. Especially having no prestige makes it feel like I'm making progress faster and faster. I will say I wish I had more warning about some of the costs towards the end. I'm stuck waiting a few hours for the final achievement because of bad planning on my part. Also, offline gains, if you're online very long (like me, 16 hours+), will skip portions of the game. I know there's a setting to turn it off but I'd say it should say it's recommended for offline gains to be off, I feel like I got too many tabs at once every time I went offline. Again, that is on me for thinking offline gains wouldn't be so big...

So yeah, other than those 3ish points, I think it's awesome!

A lot of fun! The strong point is definitely the platforming and some of the boss fights. The achievements are a bit tedious because they require a minimum of 3 playthroughs ... 2 of which I was fine with, it was just the last one that I didn't. Trying to collect everything is very fun, I really enjoyed some of those optional rooms. Some of the unlocks that you have available for run 2 and 3 also make it much more enjoyable, but I won't go into detail.

Overall, I had a ton of fun, but I was really tired of the final boss by the third run and I'm glad to put it behind. I enjoyed all the boss fights all 7+ times I fought them though.

The story was interesting and not hard to follow, I liked the character quirks, and I really liked some of the songs.

I'd say personally I think the game is fully worth.

Well that was A LOT of fun for me. I'm not sure if my hours on record are accurate because the demo playthrough transferred.

OK, so, drawing some comparisons, the game feels mostly like a vania but you do have access to range weapons with infinite ammo (some do reload but you don't have to pick ammo up). You also have a variety of melee weapons to choose from, the range ones can have ammo or no ammo (like chakram), they can be aimed, can be auto or semi automatic. The weapons can have wide swings, long range, short range, fast or slow attacks, etc.

Movement is pretty nice for the most part, and with a skill in the skilltree it honestly doesn't matter how fast you move (free tps from anywhere to anywhere). I did like the sword mechanic, where you can create platforms, and made my way to a lot of places I shouldn't have gotten to.

The enemy variety is nice, and some of their gimmicks are pretty funny. I also got scared by two specific enemies ... But I'm a coward. The boss fights were fun, for the most part. I was taking way too much damage from the very final fight...

I saw a comment mention the game being linear but I don't feel that's true. I went out of my way to ignore quests and just explore and sometimes my mission would send me to an area I had already fully explored, so I feel like except for the gates, almost nothing blocks you. Also, it feels like they made the game with the assumption you'd probably not get all your skills in the skill tree, but I don't want to spoil so I'll leave it at that.

Overall, I had A LOT of fun with it.

Maybe a bit short, but I liked a lot of the puzzles. I was not a fan of the way auto save works, I had to walk away more than half way through a chapter and had to repeat all of it. Getting all the achievements is kind of hard, but some of them were fun and silly. I did get stuck in a few spots as well. Only used hints once but they were useful when I used them. Overall pretty good IMO.

One of my favorite games. Played a ton in flash, played what I consider a ton in Steam. Didn't 100% it because of 1 medal that is a bit ridiculous Coin bounce in bow training but other than that got pretty far. Would recommend to anyone that likes the idea of playing the training minigames to grow stronger.

As for gameplay, I hinted a bit at the loop. In your base you train your stats through some minigames. The training gets harder as your stats go higher, and also, if you survive the training long enough, it gets faster and more difficult until you can't keep up.

The other half is the combat. It's not exactly turn based but it is mostly turn based. You have a few things you can do whenever you feel like it. Eventually it lowkey feels like there's no build, as all stats go very high and you're just a great warrior, archer and mage, but for moooost of the game, you can choose a build. Late game ... Let's say there are easier builds, in my opinion.

Anyway, I love (almost) everything about the game as is and wouldn't want any of it to change.

Well I'm surprised I never left a review. This is one of my favorite games to play with my childhood friend. Even after we unlocked everything, we kept doing reinc 8 (was the max at the time) runs over and over because no other game felt like this. Single player is much harder than multiplayer though. I generally like this A LOT more in multiplayer, but it's still awesome in single player, especially coming back after they added so many helpful mechanics.

As for details about the game: It is for the most part a roguelike FPS. I say most part because there are melee weapons, and also ways to play where your damage doesn't come from shooting.

There is a huge list of guns, guns come with slightly randomized modifiers and they also have unique modifiers, like snipers that headshot 3 targets at a time.

There are also "scrolls" which are power ups that only last one run. Deal more damage the further you are from enemies, run faster, become resistant to slow and traps, etc. There's a huuuuge list and this is one of the reasons I like multiplayer. You can share your scrolls with teammates which helps everyone get the build they want, while in single player you don't have the same level of agency, but you can still make choices and end up op.

Every run goes through the same "biomes" if you want to call it that, but the maps are picked from a pool so you don't see the exact same layout. You will begin to recognize rooms after a bit, though.

There's bosses with variants I won't get into because spoilers.

There are also random challenges (including platforming), secret chests, peddlers selling stuff and a blacksmith in case you want to keep a good gun without having to swap it out for a higher level one.

Every time your run is over, you can use an acquired resource called "Essence" to permanently power up. The tree is kinda limited and we maxed out pretty quickly (relatively). Essence still has uses in every run so at least we get to spend some, but we have both saved 10k+.

There are also tons of characters and every character has some upgrades that only apply to them. I have favorites but I have won with almost every character and they are all very strong in their own areas. Every character I haven't won with yet, is because my co-op duo plays them.

So there's my long version. The game has a ton of stuff to see, and it's super satisfying to melt the final boss when you go overboard. You will also die a lot because the game can be unforgiving. I haven't ran into any bugs and the network code has handled our cross-ocean connection so I personally think it's good.

I guess this counts as my first official "souls-like", and that will obviously change my perception.

I'll be honest and start with saying I'm not a big fan of what I think souls-like means. I don't like losing my resources, I find the leveling system overwhelming, and I thought I'd break something when a boss would kill me in 2 or 3 hits...

However, at least here, with a bit of farming to get talents and a bit of getting used to the really weird controls, I ended up having a lot of fun with the parry + fast claw build. I never used dodge or it's gimmicks, would barely use the actual basic attack. I don't know if that means I "didn't play the game right", but it carried me all the way to getting all the achievements.

And I actually had fun doing that. Someone I watch had praised this game for the animations and I agree. I was able to mostly predict enemies based on their animations. This was especially fun in boss fights, for me, anyway. It is satisfying to perfectly parry a flurry of attacks. And since I don't use the basic attack, I didn't have to "hate" the fact I'd have to drain more than 1 hp bar per hp bar.

I liked the shard system but didn't go out of my way to max things, I pretty much ended only using 3 of them (spear -> heal -> scythe, in that order from beginning to end of game).

I also didn't use the other two potions, though I did use one of the recipes with the alchemy on the one I used.

The story was very hard for me to follow, but it was interesting, what little I could gather anyway. I also really liked the endings.

Some maps were too confusing for me, and I dread the feeling of leaving something behind ... I think I managed to loot almost everything but I'm kinda glad the maps would have shortcuts back to places. It did bother me to respawn enemies when I felt like I could die soon, though.

Overall, even though I'm not compatible with the "souls-like" mechanics, I really enjoyed the animations, the setting of the game, and even the boss fights.
