I'm sure this game is great if you played it when it came out but it incredibly hard to play by today's standards. It requires troubleshooting just to run on Windows 10. The controls are overall very clunky and unwieldy. The dialogue and plot is shallow in comparison to more recent western RPGs. It's over all not something I would recommend to a new player that wasn't a fan of classic western RPGs, Star Wars Prequels, or Bioware games. The most rewarding things I think I found in this was simply finding interest looking back at what games were like almost 20 years ago.

Kholat did not seem scary to me. I enjoyed all of the letters and articles that you could read through. The story in this game is excellent but the gameplay left me feeling underwhelmed.
