Firewatch is a game with a poignant narrative - exploring human connection, guilt, and honesty - that is beautifully contrasted by its serene environments. Exploring the already stunning Shoshone National Forest becomes even more exciting as the mystery at the heart of the game unfolds. Small design choices - like the semi-linearity of its level design, the ability to take photos of the game's environment with a 'disposable camera', and the dialogue options - combine to create a gameplay experience that feels uniquely personal, elevating the game beyond a more prescriptive 'walking-sim'.

Quickly gets you hooked on trying to beat 'just one more level'. A fun twist on a precision platformer that's easy to learn but will take many hours to master! While completing each level is a challenge of its own, the speed, snack and soak score cards give you additional challenges that will really test your splashing skills. New power ups and enemies are introduced throughout the game and Jerome race levels and Scorch boss battles are also interspersed, keeping the gameplay continuously fresh.

Accompanying you is an energising soundtrack that offers a unique theme for each level. Timing your dives off the top of the level as the music drops (intentionally or otherwise) is extremely satisfying.

The art style is unique, colourful, and full of charm but doesn’t overwhelm you as you zip between spikes and swimmers. The voice acting for the cast of characters is charismatic and above all very British.

All around a fun and engaging platformer that continues to challenge you from beginning to end!
