Early Access Review
A creative game that's a lot of fun with friends. Highly recommend using in-game comms.

A true return to horror. RE7 makes a lot of changes to the resident evil formula and could be considered a reboot like RE4 was to the original trilogy. However, the atmosphere, music, enemies, and the rising tension all adds to the feeling that your time could come to an end at any moment. There are few jumpscares and most of the horror is simply caused by the environments/atmosphere. Additionally, resource management is a thing again for the RE series as a couple times when I first played I found myself desperately in need of ammo. The madhouse difficulty also provides replayability due to different item and enemy placement as well as a significant increase in difficulty. You will die, a lot (if played without unlocks). As a long time fan of the series who has played every game, I approve of the new direction and look forwards to the DLC coming out. Some may complain about the length of the game (my first playthrough was just short of 9 hrs.), however most other games in the series could be completed in a shorter time than RE7 and people ignore this. My only complaint is the lack of enemy diversity. The only enemies you come across are a few different types of "molded," some insects, and a couple bosses. Overall this is a great return for Resident Evil and I strongly suggest you support RE7 if you have any interest in doing so or a return to action like RE6 is bound to follow.

Overall 9/10

In short, if you love the Metal Gear franchise this game leaves you wanting much more in the way it concludes. The second half of the game is repetitive as all hell. Even 5 hours into the game it just starts to feel like a chore. There is a huge open map to your disposal but it feels empty with nothing to do. Literally, most of your time will be spent just travelling via horse to the next mission point or constantly returning to your chopper and then sitting through a increasingly annoying helicopter approach as you proceed to the next mission. Additionally, this game has a ton of great gameplay concepts: horse/buddies, stealth mechanics, outposts (think FC3/4), the motherbase, and the gunplay but it doesn't do any of them well in my opinion. Almost every one of them are done better by other games, leaving MGS to literally have no impressively implemented mechanic that would cause it to deserve the hype that it has gotten. It is okay for what it is if you don't care about the story but I would never spend full price on it.

Garry's mod will literally be of no use when paid mods come.

UPDATE: The pay for mods model of Skyrim has been removed, but the whole debacle showed the idiocy and immaturity of Garry himself. Though I gave Skyrim a positive review now, I'm leaving this negative review for Garry himself since he's such a ♥♥♥♥. I wish I never bought this game and supported this guy... Though I admired it from afar, once I got it in my hands it really is not that fun anyway. (Note the time played)

Now that the workshop has been freed, I will give a positive review of Skyrim... For the few who have not actually tried Skyrim it is a great game where you can get lost for hours on end and the modding opportunities are endless. Across the xbox and pc versions I probably have 150 hrs and I have yet to actually finish the main story-line. Sure, some quests are simple go here, fetch that, but most quests have interesting story-lines. I would give it a solid 9/10.
