WARNING: GAME BREAKING BUGS

I like this game, but I have experienced SEVERAL game breaking bugs.

The first bug was when approaching the lighthouse in The Caspian chapter. I stealthed my way through to the surface in front of the lighthouse and Giul never acknowledged I had taken down (knocked out) all the enemies, so she didn't lower the custom elevator (boat) and I got stuck there, because by that time all your autosaves and probably your quicksaves too (because you don't expect this to happen and you use them along the way) are overwritten and you don't have one left that puts you back outside the caves, before entering the mission area. After looking up this issue, it turns out you have to replay the chapter from the start (unless you have a save before entering the area), which is really annoying since I went everywhere on the part leading up to that mission to search for loot. I lost about 2 hours of progress.

The second bug was also in The Caspian, when you are going to the Oasis with Damir.
The part where you enter some abandoned place in between the cliffs, you have to follow Damir.
You'll pass some closed off entrance with bats flying out and Damir will say something about it.
If you happen to go ahead of Damir before that bit and you jump over the sandbags next to the truck to check for loot (I have the metal detector on my watch to point me in the right direction), you will be in the area where Damir has to help you on the ledge to enter the cave. However, going there before Damir gets there seems to interfere with his script to stand by the ledge to help you up. He just stood there, no matter what I did. Luckily, when he didn't immediately approach the ledge after telling me to gear up, I sensed something wasn't right and backed up my save file folder. One, just one, save file came from heaven and was made just before going to that area and rescued me of having to replay the entire chapter AGAIN (would I?). Although for this one, someone mentioned you can use cheat engine/cheat tables to teleport yourself onto the ledge, but I didn't have to try this, so I can't confirm it works.

A third bug is at the end of, you guessed it, The Caspian chapter!
When you drive from the train to the Fortress, Giul and Damir should be waiting for you.
However, only Giul was there and again I could not progress...
A youtube video explains that you can ram a sewer tunnel gate with your car, which normally would be opened by Damir.

Apparently these bugs exist since the release of this game and that can not be tolerated.
I found several topics and comments on videos mentioning these bugs, so if the devs say they are unaware, that is just bs.
I barely post any reviews and I have never posted a negative recommendation until now.

EDIT: Meanwhile I have completed the game and its DLCs, having made numerous backups, but I did not encounter anything game breaking after The Caspian chapter, so that's something.

TLDR: Good game, but this is a warning to back up your save files often and especially before going to mission areas (in The Caspian chapter!) to avoid game breaking bugs forcing you to restart the entire chapter.

I bought this game for €20...
Please, don't make the same mistake I did and buy it for €30.

I enjoyed the bugged Dead Island games and this is an improved version with parkour.
Buy the Enhanced Edition, because The Following DLC is totally worth it.

This franchise is amazing, but finishing this episode always makes me angry, knowing there is no sequel.

It's mostly a walking simulator, but that doesn't make this game bad at all.
The atmosphere and environment are great. The story is very interesting and the ending suits it perfectly.
Not too many 'enemies' to scare you, but the game is really creepy and eerie at times.

One of my favorite games and yet totally different in gameplay (and graphics) than what I'm used to. Choosing answers and making hard choices really drags you into the story.
Just couldn't stop playing, because I wanted to know what happened next!

A sweet game for a sweet price. Updates every now and then, character packs for a nice price and free DLC for special events! Many hours of fun on this one!
