Very fun VR game, heavily Half-Life inspired too if that gives you an idea of what to expect

Modded creates a peak open world game. Vanilla is still a very great game. Everybody has quests that cater to their play style. A must play

Gameplay is an easy 9/10 with great progression and the dlc really nailing the feeling of an end game. Unfortunately can’t give it a 10 with long cut scenes at the end of clearing an area just going over stats. Graphics id give an 8/10, while still looking amazing and very cinematic definitely show their age. Story is a 8/10 which is serviceable and extremely thought provoking but end of the day linear. Side quests are fun and add a lot to the experience. The open world aspect is the weakest by far with a 6/10. The strongest part of exploration are the strongholds of enemies which are fun to clear. There are other objectives that give fast travel, but they are extremely repetitive, and while the dlc does make the other open world objectives better, it doesn’t add enough oomph. I wish there were more than just cosmetics or increasing the same stats by doing the same thing over and over again. Charms and crafting materials are not enough incentive as the bonuses are marginal and you get crafting materials from just doing quests or clearing strongholds. That to me and for most people doesn’t make you want to seriously explore an environment, but makes the exploring feel like a check list. Thankfully you can travel the map very quickly which helps going from place to place easily. Overall the game gets a 7.75/10

Story is a 9/10 while the graphics on max in my experience are cinematic as hell. Gameplay overall does wish for a more interesting end game and synergies, but it is still very solid so 7/10. Overall an 8/10 for me

The great thing about valve games is that they don't over stay their welcome. Fantastic fun as hell game with absolutely stunning graphics. A VR must play

Early Access Review
I cannot recommend this as a must play VR experience.

It has two different classes to choose from, really only changing the ranged attack that you will use in the run so there's not much variance there unless you beat the game multiple times to upgrade them. Beating the game multiple times is honestly boring, as there is only generic randomly generated fantasy hallways for every area, which isn't much of a gripe as there are traps and things to climb, but I had hoped for more variance in the size making me feel like I was on a grand quest and or something like fun climbing which VR typically excels at, so it feels more like a lame gimmick when it really should be expanded upon.

I really had hoped for more enemy variety, and while there is different art, most of the enemies fight the same. The only exception are the robot knight guys that you have to parry first to damage, but sadly most slowly charge you, have a quick sprint towards you, or are a different variation on a turret. It seems like they are onto something great with the robot guy that you have to pary first then attack, but unfortunately this is the only enemy like that. Bosses are alright, but extremely underwhelming. Though they have cool unique designs they most of the time just spam the same attack repeatedly and or summon things as you hit it with a couple that teleport. Finally the final boss is cool, but I wanted so much more.

Overall I think the devs can improve a lot about this game, and the robot enemy that you have to pary is a good sign of them doing so. I believe the multiplayer update will be cool with friends, as playing with friends always makes things better, but I truly do hope the devs keep improving and adding more to the game as I think they can make this a good game in the future.

After playing and beating the game I can without a single doubt claim this as my favorite VR experience to date even against Half Life: Alyx which is another amazing experience. What this game doesn't have in interact-able environments compared to half life, it whole heartedly makes up for in game-play and survival mechanics. I cannot describe how much fun the learning curve of this game is, but from your first play through to your next it will provide a more rich experience each time up until beating the game. It took me three restarts of understanding my limits and the games mechanics to beat the game. Surely if you dealt with everything on your first run you would eventually beat the game and that's also part of the fun. When looking up strategies and videos for entertainment on Into the Radius you will find that everybody has their own way of playing the game, and while there is a meta, every play style is viable depending on the difficulty, equipment, and experience playing the game. The game runs great and looks decent.

Now this brings me to my gripes of the game. Sometimes shooting collision is hit or miss with the environment, like you can't shoot through metal fences. After beating the game unless you start a new game (which I am because I am addicted) there isn't much of a point in doing more missions because there isn't any progression to be had unless you want to unlock all of the guns or deck out your room. I wish there were more of an interact-able environment to immerse me more. Game is shorter than expected, but for 30$ I can't complain too much, most of your time comes from learning and surviving which is fun.

Overall I can't wait for the 2nd game and its upgraded graphics and polish.

Would recommend with the amount of content currently present in the game. It makes up for the dollar per hour rule.
