A charming and endearing mix of the best parts Stardew Valley and Ark Survival. There's little in the way of story, you're given an overarching goal to find a specific species of dinosaur to find friends for your childhood dinosaur buddy Lucky, but this gives enough of a framework for you to want to expand and explore to your own satisfaction. There's still some bugs and inconsistencies that need polish but the game is still under improvement and there's a kickstarter to help fund more and greater developments in future. If you just want something to hop on for an evening to unwind and tame some friendly dinosaurs, I cannot reccomend it enough.

Thought I should probably come back and make this review more appropriate now, since I've long since dropped the game.
Dead by Daylight is a game with serious fundamental design flaws. It's extremely obvious that it's a glorified party game, which never intended to service such a large playerbase. The gameplay 'mechanics' that both sides have invented aren't actually mechanics, but just methods of exploiting collision around environmental structures, moving your camera around to hide the big light in the killer's head that reveals where they're facing, and abusing whichever perks give you the highest reward at the lowest risk. The more I've played the game, the more I realised I wasn't playing because I was having fun, but because the game was holding some of my favourite franchises hostage. I was playing because I wanted to play as Pyramid Head or Demogorgon, not because I wanted to actually play Dead By Daylight.
If you can get a group of people together to play this game in Customs, you'll have infinitely more fun than playing in public lobbies. It's an endless cycle of killers or survivors getting bullied by the other side for the tiniest of mistakes, and becoming more and more bitter, using tactics that make the game as unfun as possible for the other side just to increase the odds of victory.
I'll come back to this game eventually, because at the end of the day, it's the only place I get to play as characters from franchises I love. Most people playing are already in too deep. My honest recommendation is to spend your money somewhere else. The licenced characters are bait to hook people like me into a game filled with frustration and mutually assured distaste.

I genuinely believe this game is one of the best VR games available, and is easily my favourite.
The game has realistic engines requiring a learning curve, with gameplay progression from a tiny diesel engine to a full steam locomotive. From what I've experienced, it works in both VR and non-VR modes seamlessly, some minor features like zooming (obviously) are unavailable in VR but can easily be added with the power of mods. However, this game really shines with one simple fact - Derail Valley is probably one of the best standing-only VR games on the market. I have very little space to move around in VR, and far too many VR games place items behind my cupboard or half a meter outside my window, because they're designed for a whole room of space while I'm playing with a tape X on the floor to make sure I don't step out of the one meter of available space and smash my controller into a coffee table. Being able to drive a train while basically standing completely still and not destroying my room means the world to me.

There are some very minor issues. Moving from the basic diesel engine to the steamer requires quite a steep learning curve, which may be off-putting for those looking to sit back and enjoy rather than having a very hands-on experience. Once you've got the hang of things however, driving the steamer is very satisfying. There are currently only 3 engines available, but each one is fairly different and more are planned to be added. Additionally, the map has very minor landscape and texturing issues, with next to no impact on gameplay.

If you're like me and you want a VR game that needs extremely small amounts of space to play, I would absolutely recommend this game. Hell, buy it anyway, it's great fun to play on VR or PC, and when you get bored you can throw a steam engine off a cliff at 130kmh and ride it down to the end.

I've played Ark for quite a significant time, primarily on private or non-dedicated servers. Can honestly say I've dedicated more time to this game than almost any other game in my life, excluding maybe Pokemon. Some mods do become essential, but I don't believe this detracts from the game, as mods for PC are readily available. However, the game is pretty poorly optimised, as even mid-tier PCs can struggle quite significantly.

Despite lots of claims in other reviews that the servers are filled with super-sized spawn camping creatures, I've never experienced this. Playing in quieter servers provides a better experience, and there are plenty of servers with friendly people and save environments. Requires a slightly annoyingly large time investment to grow a sustainable creature, but each species is unique and entertaining, with many ways to play due to the traits system. Would recommend to anyone with a love of prehistoric animals and lots of free time. Would not recommend for those looking for a quick, casual gaming experience, as a time investment is required and deaths may be rage inducing.

Subnautica is an epic survival game. Speedrunning the hardcore mode was one of the most entertaining 26 hours of my life. Honestly, its one of the best games I've ever played.
