Quite frankly essential and extends usefulness outside of gaming, would highly recommend for multi-monitor setups.

Although, there is a free version on github which I was primarily using for a few years to connect an old 1080p60hz display to my current setup, but replacing that with a 1440p165hz display and my old 1080p144hz monitor taking that place of my old secondary monitor feels far better, so out of gratitude I bought this to support the developer. Cheers! :D

I remember buying this game after watching early access YouTube videos back in 2017. Despite having several bugs (unironically, no pun intended, some of them were really annoying and even game-breaking) and going through a period of abandonment, the game is in a better state now. That said, the developer has made it clear that development is permanently done, which is unfortunate because it leaves the game feeling like wasted potential. Sure, you could say all that’s needed is to refine the mechanics and fix the lingering bugs, but even then, it wouldn't live up to the expectations the community once had for it. The current state honestly feels like the bare minimum to justify calling it out of beta.

The game itself? To be honest, it's 'meh.' Cool in concept, but not the best execution. It’s tough for me to say I dislike it, though, since I’ve beaten it on all difficulty levels and maps, so I clearly got my money’s worth. But if I’d known ahead of time that the hiatus was essentially permanent as a solution, it would’ve been harder to have the motivation I once had to play. I totally get why people say it’s wasted potential, and I think they’re valid in feeling that way.

So overall, just be aware of the game’s development history and where it stands now when you’re deciding whether or not it’s worth picking up. My recommendation is more based on the personal experience I had growing up with it rather than the game’s current state or the expectations the community once had. With everything considered, it’s not an easy yes or no, it’s more of a "meh" to be frank. You’ll have to see for yourself if the flaws are something you can cope with.

For many people, you either remember playing this game when it came out or your parents/older siblings played this around the mid 2000's. My case is the latter, as I was a toddler, so I was unable to appreciate Gordon Freeman saving the world unfortunately. While I wasn't old enough to get the authentic Half-Life 2 experience, It was one of the first PC games I did play back in late 2013. Largely because I was limited to my parents old work PC, I made do with what I could and knew. Didn't even have a steam account at this time, I remember trying to cracking this game for free back in the day using a USB Flash Drive, haha.

And while the game itself is fondly remembered by many, it does show its age. But out of all the older titles I played, is one of the few games that still hold up. While this game nowdays isn't special gameplay and mechanic wise, if you consider the time it was released in, it is well thought out and attention to detail is sharp. The AI (while having its own moments, like pathfinding being slow at times on some maps) is notably impressive, Combine soldiers doing tactical realistic maneuvers to try and counter the player for example. While this detail is subtle, it holds up among modern games. Plot wise, while not unique in of itself, for its execution and themes it portrays, it does a good job of doing so. The concept of an ultra-orwellian regime like the Combine pictured here is immersive and makes engaging with feel rewarding story progression wise.

With all considered, this game has aged like wine and is a certified classic among the league of timeless classics.

This game holds a special place in my heart for being one of the first games I had ever played from my middle childhood which is also when my parents got the wii as our first family game console.

I have screenshots of this on the wii from 2011 which is were this game shined control wise, it is an unmatched experience and were the creative effort behind the games mechanics feels the most fluid, which isn't captured with a joystick. I'd love to see a VR remaster for this game as it'd capture the experience of the Wii version so well, but I digress.

Enough about personal experience, the game itself graphically wise conceptual wise looks great in my opinion. But, the games graphical datedness is apperant as while its cel-shaded watercolor art style hides some of the rough spots, greater fine detail just looks rough which becomes more apparent when played in higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K. Also, technical framerate limitation makes playing this feel like a slideshow and wasted potential. I know when the game originally released the developers reasonably did not have any reasonable foresight for FHD 144hz/QHD 165hz displays or god forbid UHD 240hz, but when this released there was no reason not to which is frustrating. An RPG Story-Driven game like this benefits from such increased responsiveness notably. This is more of a criticism of the PC Port rather than the game itself, not a deal breaker but just makes you think what could be if the adaption was done with more effort.

For its gameplay, it can be tedious and boring at times, but I think the overall gameplay is an adequate experience if you enjoy the visual novel aspect of it. Although looking back, my remember my parents were hesitant to let me play this, I didn't understand why until now. Lets just say Issun is "flirtatious" and devious, among other things that flew over my head as a child, but now all makes sense. Either way, its a good blast to the past that many zoomers like myself and millennials in the audience will remember. For me specifically, this game will never be forgotten and will be remembered.

First impressions are good, as an early access release it has a lot of potential. But, the developer needs to refine the already existing mechanics and expand upon them with new ones before I can truly recommend, as it feels rough round the edges. As of now, there isn't much you can do in-regards to nation building or more direct control over external and internal affairs of a country outside of the basic essentials which just feels meh and for a simulation game lacking, so there is a lot to be desired, but as of so far immediate impression is that its potential makes it worth buying to support its future development, so long as the development path for this game continues on a right trajectory then I can roughly recommend it.

I remember playing this the day after it came out and a couple days afterwards, it being a buggy mess and a unmoderated cesspool. The last day I played this, I knew it would be dead within a few weeks. I remember you could team kill with grenades without punishment, which I have several screenshots of and just how annoying that was, along there were a few other things like the copious amount of unfiltered racism. I have dozens of screenshots of people just saying flat-out discriminatory things like the n-word and anti-semitic/homphobic slurs, etc. Not the brightest bulbs too be frank. Just remembering seeing the state this release was in and being like "yeah this will be dead in a few weeks" to now is both funny and sad. Funny, because, I vaguely remember how many times I was called slurs among other things, and sad, because, the actual concept and novelty of this was great at the time. But, it releasing in the unfinished state it did with the subpar community unfortunately meant this was dead on arrival.

Yadada 3.0 update game sucks now but seriously its not even that the new mechanics introduced are hard to learn per-say but how pointlessly complicated they are for a game that is meant to be easy to learn, plus the new changes are awkwardly implemented and aren't that fun even if you can grapple them as for what was said earlier, only good thing was diplomatic tab improvement and (partially) technology, everything else is just subpar and not ideal for a game like this that meant to be easy to learn or anyone else matter of fact.

Remember getting this game for free on the Xbox One roughly a decade ago and loving it a lot. Completed the main story and all the side quests, easily had over 100 hours on the xbox console edition. Although the PC Port has been plagued with issues that I've experienced like unexpected crashes and etc, it has been relatively inconsequential for at least to my time playing. Just focusing on the game itself, it is definitely up there in-terms of all time favorites and I will cherish it, please do not let the publishers actions soil this games greatness from its notably better console released editions.
