I never wrote a review before, but I think that this game truly deserve this effort.
In one word, this game is AMAZING !
From the unique hand-drawn graphisms to the near perfect music (i'm gonna speak about it later), you can only feel attracted to this twisted but surprising world, which is extremely well crafted, by a clever way. It may seems weird to say that a game is clever in its building, but it is, and as a result it's incredibly fun to play as a gamer. You have a lot of thing to find by yourself, and the game rewards you for your patience and the efforts you put in your exploration, always. And you also have a lot of ways to go from a place A to B, which means that everyone will have his own experience with the game, in the way of discovering it. The player experience is in consequence unique to every gamer, which is a very strong feeling, you feel as you playthought is unique ! In the end you lose yourself exploring this world and finding every hidden secret without paying attention to the real time anymore, cause it's immersive and fun. To add to this, platforming section are pretty cool, classic but working pretty well with a perfect responsivity from the Knight, your ingame character.
To speak about the combat system, it is a pure success : challeging, sometimes (very) hard but fair, thight and intense. Simplicity and timing are here the keywords, and it works pretty well ! Sharing the souls bar with healing and offensive abilities is a very good idea, and having a kind of casting time on the heal gives a strategic approach to every encounter that I appreciate very well. Futhermore every area of the game as plenty of ennemies to defeat. Really the bestiary is very large ! And bossfight are really cool as well !
The story and lore are sometimes hard to get, but if you feel involved in this game, you'll understand all you need to know (and trust me it's a good plot), and youtube is full of videos if you still have any questions after your playthrought or if you wanna theorize :)
If I speak about the graphisms, I will describe them in one word : charming. It is really eye-friendly and rich, with a lot of details, expecially in the various environments. Each zone has a unique atmosphere, both visually and melodically.
Which is a perfect transition for the audio of the game. Sound design is excellent, and the soundtrack is simply perfect. Some of the themes in the game are just among my favorite of all time. Hornet and (a zone I won't spoil you the name) theme are masterpiece composed by a genius !
With that much effort put in from the developers to give you such a quality game, my only regret is to have paid only 10 € for this gem, and i'm gonna buy a copy of the game for some of my friends to share with them one of the best game I have ever played !
