I've really enjoyed the Sniper Elite Saga since its early beginnings, playing coop since Berlin over Africa, Italy and now France. However I just couldn't catch the sniper fever in the 5th game. I played the first four maps and the setting, the targets, everything became worse after the very first mission. The first mission let's you play in Normandy, it's a coastal area, small hills, a tiny village, a big radar station, some orchards. I explored every tiny corner of that map, I adored it.

Then came the second mission. You start in a foresty area and have multiple ways to reach the castle/manor. So far, so good. The target and every other mission objective is inside the manor. Not in the perimeter of it, inside a multi-floor manor. You have two options, either sneak for an hour or accidentally triggering the alarm, going in full rambo with your sub machine gun. To finish the mission you have to get into a specific room, very unsnipery attitude if you ask me.

I thought to myself alright, maybe this one mission is the exception, let's try the next one. Your target? Get into a highly secured cathedral. Walled of. With tight street corners, a lot of corners, barely any free sight. Tiny bridges. Oh and you have to go all in, inside the temple on the very top floor. Snipers on choke points. But, what, why? You have a lot of silenced weapons, even some non-lethal ones, but what's the point if you have to kill specific guards, get discovered and the whole map escalates to a warzone. The coop and the new pvp campaign mode are fun, so is the customization, but the DLC mania is really over the top. I've stopped playing it.

Simply the best. I don't even know why you still read this review. Check out SsethTzeentach video if you don't believe my humble opinion.
