Well, I played the game a lot the recent days and I gotta say, it is a great game, but it is very short.

If you played the original before, it is definitely a nice fresh take on it, and if somebody plays with the thought of playing the games in a chronological order, it's definitely a nice addition.

I love the look of the game. If you can run it on high or max settings, it's a catch for the eye, and gameplay-wise, movement was done great—it's fluid and intuitive, even though the hitboxes of enemies sometimes cause frustration.

But it's not flawless.

For people who just play through the games once or twice, it's definitely not worth 60€. The campaign, even if you take your time and investigate carefully on the hardest mode possible for the first run (Hardcore), only takes up something between 5–7h (depending on your playstyle).

So if you don't enjoy the classic way to play Resident Evil games (playing the game over and over), I'd definitely wait until the game is like 20€.

If you are a veteran, get ready to have runs taking not more than 2h.

I would consider myself a veteran in the series, and in my first playthrough I did unlock about 50% of the challenges, and this in like 6.5h (I did enjoy the atmosphere on the first run).

I started with Hardcore and went up the ladder: Nightmare, Inferno—and to be honest, on any difficulty it's not very hard. The only real change in difficulty I witnessed was on the last boss, who started easy on Hardcore but in Inferno and Nightmare had moves that could stunlock you and kill you 100% if you misclicked once, no matter how much health you have.

I did a couple of runs now, and after the first round which I used to explore, my average time was about 2.0h, and if I want to do a fast run, I can easily do a whole run in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

No matter if you run with shop items or not, you are not really gonna have any struggle even on Inferno (hardest difficulty)—you find more than enough ammo.

I am at a point where I can tell every step you need to do to complete the game out of the back of my head, and I am only 35 hours in.

So, to sum up everything:

The game is amazing if you play it for the first and maybe the second time.

But if you aren't the kind of completionist player, if you aren't stretching the gameplay to its full extent, I can't see you getting more than 10 hours of playtime out of this. Even though those 10 hours will be amazing, that's pretty much it.

If you are a veteran and you want the 100%, you will, due to the short story, have a very repetitive gameplay—you will most likely end up as a zombie yourself, running through the game without wasting a single thought.

From my part, I have to say that I think there is a huge lack of riddles.
The game still has those, but you do not really have to think for yourself because of how the game guides you, making you feel more like a delivery service guy running back and forth.

And yes, the content cut is strongly noticeable, but I hope that Capcom may come up with some extensions or separate stories. After all, the last cutscene could indicate something, but I don't wanna throw theories around.
