I want to first caveat this by saying that the base game at under $5 (when on sale) is worth the price and enjoyable. It's a standard ARPG and I had a good time for the 18 or so hours I played with a friend.

TL;DR: This game appears to only be complete and fully enjoyable if you also purchase all of the expansions

My complaints:
1) The story "ends"* in those 18 hours, and you could do it in less if you beeline main quests and don't explore
1a*) The 'ending' feels more like a huge cliffhanger meant to get you to buy the expansions, which from my research online appear to be basically required to get to a satisfying conclusion and wrap up many of the narrative threads of the base game

2) Good luck finding any kind of guides or build recommendations for *ONLY* the base game, as it pretty much seems like true build diversity and powerful/engaging end-game builds are only achievable in things like the crucible DLC and the higher level bosses of the expansions. Really feels bad for new players, especially when the game goes on sale for under $5 consistently, but the expansions are always $15+

3) The core gameplay loop is fun, but progressing your character once you've finished the story just entails starting the story again but on a higher difficulty. Which if you're like me and don't love grind for the sake of grind, really takes the wind out of your sails.

Addictive and while very difficult and stressful at times, the art style and multitude of systems really don't make me get tired of panning all around my colony to watch my duplicants piss in our clean water source for the nth time

UPDATE: People in 177 different countries still cannot play this game and my negative review will not be changing until that decision is reversed. Sony must re-enable the game in these countries

Mandating that someone make an account on a platform that has had several data breaches, security and most of all privacy issues is absolute crap.

Though at the time of writing this the game has it's share of bugged character-interactions and cutscenes (some NPCs will just repeat the same dialogue options, even if youve already interacted with them). The story and gameplay are engaging enough to make this worth the $60.

I wouldn't pay full price for this game as it is extremely short for a AAA title.

I finished the game in 22 hours and did every single side mission I could find as well as all companion quests. I didn't do any collectible hunting but I never do that in any game anyways.

I think the choices you're presented with are really well placed and thought out, though the game does pretty much tell you who "the good guys" are.

If you sided with the corpos you're scum /j

The gunplay is... bad. Like really boring and unrewarding bad. But that's basically all Obsidian games anyways. If you tell me you play fallout for the gunplay I will look at you weird. Just enjoy the story and the choices. Roleplay whoever you want to be for 20 hours.

Would recommend, just wait for a sale.

Some of the best world building I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Story might hit familiar beats but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment overall.

In terms of gameplay I wish that the climbing mechanics were a little bit more flexible (you can only grab on to certain ledges or hand holds), but the combat is incredibly rewarding and really teaches you to use every tool in your arsenal, as well as analyze and strategize before taking on a fight. It's hard to just invul-frame your way through a fight.

There are things to criticize about the game. Some may find the (non) ending a bit too straightforward, a lot of the side characters are completely irrelevant once you've completed their little fetch/track/kill quests, and in terms of actual world activites there is not much there that is super fun. The bandit camps are boring after the second time you clear them, and unless youre grinding for certain gear the machine sites become things you ignore.

However, I've enjoyed every moment of exploration, extra content in the form of datapoints and memos, and all the world building. It's one of the few games where I've actually gone through and read some of the entries and listened to the audio logs because it was just so damn interesting.

Had some strange perma-crashing bug for the first few hours of the game but a reinstall fixed it. Sadly seems the port is not flawless to this day

It's a good and enjoyable game, though the leveling process is a bit boring.

However, please keep in mind this is not the savior of F2P MMOs as some of the hype has made people lose their sense of proportion. The game has flaws and the monetization of the game *does* mean that someone can pay for progression and basically skip the grind entirely. Is that a deal breaker for you? It isn't for me, but I'm also not getting into this game with the intent of making it my sole game for the next 3+ years.

It's 100% still worth playing f2p

(Spoiler-free) Good game on it's own, kinda takes a hit because it's such a deviation from what I knew as the "Assassin's Creed" franchise. (Disclaimer: I've only played 1,2, and Black Flag)

I say that because it really feels like a Warrior game rather than assassin game. It took me so long to get used to and accept the gearing system, the fact that stealth is not as satisfying or encouraged as previous games, and that assassination success is based more on stat checking an enemy than anything else.

However, once i was able to look past that and put those expectations away, the game was really enjoyable. Combat is fairly satisfying, though i didn't play at high difficulty, just normal. The quest line is interesting enough, the Greek mythology is cool and though it gets super unrealistic at times (mythical beasts, demigods, evidence of miracles, etc), the central story manages to stay fairly human and grounded. The endgame content is really expansive and altho it can get a little grindy, after completing the story i personally felt motivated to see it through.

8/10 for an adventure game, maybe 6/10 if you're expecting an assassin/stealth game. I'd recommend you give it a try if it's on sale
