Nice little game that you can 100% in 15 or so hours. Not sure if there is any replayability aside from just doing things better. than your first go around.

Quest chain is extremely linear and progression doesn't always make the most sense, "Craft 3 of these items, now craft 50 of these items, then craft 3 of these items. I imagine it's like that to sort of soft-lock you so you can't beat it in an hour but it would be nice to have a more stable curve.

Not 100% sure it's worth the money, but overall I had an enjoyable experience.

Dev, if you happen to read this you should try to move butchering further back in the quest chain. It makes it seem like it is more profitable in it's current location because most things haven't been unlocked yet (My suggestion would be replace the current quest with chopping carrots and potatoes and selling them together, then re-add the butchering quest to make burgers, cheese, or steak sandwich.) You really need those sheep for your current profit, and if you butcher 2 like I did, it is a long wait to replenish everything. Or add something to specify you should only butcher at sheep cap on a breeding day.

Game has a few flaws!

Played beta quite a bit (100+ hours) and then tried to play 1.0 multiple times when it popped but gave up because of server instability. (Worth noting current patch suffers a bit as it's a new patch, but it is NOTHING compared to the 5min load times to change zones.)

1.1 Basically broke the Linux version of the Steam Deck (Windows Steam Deck works fine as long as you don't mind the casual hiccup of lag, new patch and all...) As far as the Linux version there is no crash, just freezes and completely locks up. Even at the lowest possible setting it still doesn't fix it and it can happen when no combat is going on (meaning it's not a particle issue). Not sure what's going on and why Windows is fine but Linux isn't in this regard. Could just need a Proton update? Definitely makes me wonder what has changed though because the Steam Deck is my goto for this game, even before controller stuffis was really supported.

Gameplay - Typical ARPG with good mechanics and a rather good storyline for the first time you go through it. Can get a little mundane after the 20th or so. Have not been able to test end game systems from 1.0 onward so cannot comment.

There is an issue a LOT of people are currently upset about, bosses now have a Ward at certain percentages of their health. Doesn't bother me at all, just requires people to focus more on sustained damage rather than burst. It's mainly to combat the builds that near one shot bosses.

Overall, I love this game and plan to sink a ton of hours into it, makes this really worth the value you spend with no stupid microtransactions aside from cosmetic. Unless that changes it will be a positive review from me. I'll update if I feel I've learned something drastic that could change buyer's viewpoint on the game. Cheers!

So, the detail of the running animation gets me every time 10/10! I guess the game is pretty good too... :)

First of all, this is not really a bad game. My negative review isn't about that and would honestly be more in the "meh" category. This review is strictly personal opinion.

With the disclaimer out of the way... While I am all for roguelike games, this just did not scratch that itch in the slightest. The loop is simple enough to master, and once you figure out what you like to use the most, you just end up spending the rest of the time unlocking weapon combos/characters etc.

So, why did I buy it and not just immediately ask for a refund once I realized I wasn't really having fun? The ratings for one, this is a lot of people's favorite game/style of game. Also, saw a bunch of Youtubers with gameplay videos and they just sounded like they were having so much fun... Also of course cost.

Maybe I would have more fun if it didn't feel so time-gated? Or if the upgrades (aside from character passives) felt like they really made a difference, looking at you To The Core. Not that collectively you don't get more powerful, it's all just really RNG based until you figure out the loop and can start farming chests.

In conclusion, not a bad game, but not one that I would recommend to anyone like-minded. Cheers!

Whelp, I was actually having fun... It's just unorthodox enough that it's got this unpolished charm to it.

Then the game basically turned into a repetitive failed overclocking simulator with 5 customer's computers that I can't overclock to what they want because I have less than a 20% success chance. So, I pay the 20$ fee (What? It costs money to overclock someone's computer?!?! It's YOUR repair shop for crying out loud...) and fail until I spent my $8k savings and now I'm so frustrated I doubt I pick the game back up.

Bravo! I can usually find minor annoyances here and there but I don't think I've been this pissed off at a game in a long time.

I've never had a more neutral review in my life.

Whoever built the controls for the ship building portion, I now know sadness and frustration that I never knew possible. Thank you.

In all seriousness, this is a slow-burn game. This is coming from what I’d consider a Bethesda Fan-Boy. Morrowind is still my favorite game of all time.

It picks up sure, but there hasn’t been a truly “Omg wow” moment like I’ve had in every single game that I’ve played prior. Morrowind = The literal freedom to do whatever you want, Oblivion = Sheogorath, FO3 = Megaton, FNV = Choices for how the main story plays out. (Oh, and for the record you Obsidian lovers, the game is first and foremost built on Bethesda’s platform, jank and all. <3 Obsidian FNV is an amazing game!), Skyrim = 100 different versions sold was kind of a wow moment for me honesly…

Anyway, my point is that this game tries so hard to take a piece of all of their games and mesh them into a new universe. While this game might have been revolutionary in like 2015-2018, in the current market it’s just okay at best. I really give every effort to go into a game and give it the opinion of a fresh view with the exception of previous games released from the same studio. Sadly, this is one of the few exceptions where I just can’t help but feel like it’s being overshadowed because No Man’s Sky is better in every way.

Speaking of Bethesda jank… It’s finally time, you guys have been the meme and butt of all jokes about this for how long now? I will give credit that this is the most polished release I’ve played, but please move onto a new engine, stop trying to revamp and rehash the current one. You have literally run it into the ground. I do get it, switching all the framework, quest systems, even just random tidbits of code, maybe even going to an unfamiliar base for some of you. It’s a very daunting task. You’re freaking Bethesda though and have been releasing games how long now? You can only slap a coat of paint on a rusted car so many times before you need to go in and repair the actual framework. The scope of this game obviously wouldn’t have allowed it, and since ES6 is in some form of development let’s just assume it isn’t possible for it either. After that though, please… Put this thing out of its misery.

TL;DR – Game is okay worthy of a 5-6/10 or so if we’re not using the ridiculous scoring of major critic companies and just 10 being Must have and 0 being don’t buy ever., typical Bethesda jank, very slow start but picks up after a bit. There are better games out there, wait for a bunch of mods to come out for this before really sinking your teeth into it.

EDIT: Forgot to add FO4 to my list of wow game moments (not including FO76 or ESO) but the combat was such a huge step up from prior games and the base building while rough at first, with mods and updates became quite fun to mess around with and build traps.

So, this game is great for two kinds of people.

1) Those that are really detailed oriented and love to be creative. This game is basically an extreme version of your average paint tool with a general directive of what to create.

2) Those that do not care what their creations really look like, but like to paint/create just for fun.

This game is NOT for those that are absolute perfectionists and cannot accept even the slightest mistake, or if you just happen to have OCPD and end up creating the same thing 100 times and end up rage quitting because you realize you can't draw a unicorn.

Would definitely play again!

I was actually going to try to be nice in this review, as I love the premise of the game.

Alas, before I can even get to week 2 I have had the game lock up 3 times when doing a mission. It's not even that the game is completely FUBAR as music is still playing, mouse cursor still works. It just never loads the little battle screen and just freezes there.

There are a few redeeming qualities of the game, but it seems that repetition would quickly beat those out of me if I was able to successfully play the game.

Makes me super sad because I was really excited for this game. I'll wait for a few patches and try again in a few months, maybe my review will change then?

Good luck Devs! Not in the sarcastic way, in all seriousness, I hope you can make this game a huge success!

Wow... Just... Wow...

I never played NMS when all the negativity was plaguing the game, but after it started taking off I dabbled here and there. I finally dove in a few months ago just to see if I would enjoy it. This is THE space survival game, no other game even comes close. If you're into survival games that is this is an absolute treasure. Not to mention the fact that they haven't done the whole Paradox thing and released 50 DLC at this point, all content has been free.

My ONE complaint, and it's probably just because I haven't spent enough time in the game. Is the whole "Expedition" mechanic. If you're familiar with Seasons from other big MMOs it's of the similar vein. I'm just not sure if "I" find them fun, doesn't mean that you wont of course.

As far as price goes, 60$ is a pretty steep cost. I personally try to buy everything on sale and rarely buy games at full price. The amount of content in this game though is easily more than your average two AAA combined, maybe even three.

Alright, so this is going to be a quick review!

To get the initial out of the way, I haven't actually made it very far in the game yet. There is a LOT of underlying mechanics and I've learned that while you can rush through the early stages, it isn't really the best strategy. As the top reviews have mentioned this game is literally the perfect combination of Terraria x Rimworld and the trailers capture this perfectly.

This is going to be one of those games that I spend a bunch of time on as long as the updates keep coming. I hope the modding community takes off too because that's my bread and butter. Definite recommend, and worthy of the current price tag.
