This is a ruthless, hilarious, well-designed squad builder. If you're a fan of XCOM, Darkest Dungeon and turn-based strategy, you will enjoy this game. The learning curve is steep and you will lose a lot at the beginning. Don't get discouraged; the game is a gem once you learn how to play. The devs are very active and so is the community, and there are tons of mods to be had on nexusmods.

This is a gritty game in which you will constantly be juggling resources and making the best of an imperfect situation. You can't save everyone and sometimes they aren't worth your money to save. You will occasionally lose a prized hero you have seen grow up into a grizzled veteran due to bad luck, and that's just life. However, in exchange you get to formulate increasingly deadly ways to slaughter the variety of monsters and bosses that roam the dungeons. It's a game that keeps you on your toes, even when you're doing as well as you could be. One little crit could send everything tumbling down into the abyss. The artwork and soundtrack fit the game very well and Wayne June's narration rivals that of Bastion.

There are already full-blown mods for this game and there will undoubtedly be more on release. Oh yeah, the devs also read reddit and stream on twitch. This is the first early access game I purchased and its quality has caused me to mistakenly put my trust in several other...less polished early access titles.
