Disclaimer: I played this a lot +5 years ago, it was a different game, tried to pick up again, but ended remembered why I droped it in a single day

The most important thing to understand is that this game was pratically finished a long ago, but it got extended with new mechanics over the time once the dev noticed that launching new games is a risky endeavour (see their next game: cooking game)

If you only play the original, now called the early game - about P.Baal and some challange runs - where focus is more on your character itself getting stronger and learning god powers - then you will be for a really fun and imaginative idler.

But latter content diverts from the theme and power scale... you get pets (and waifus) that train, get classes, go in dungeons, and build a city; you get a planetary factory that need to be defended by your clones and not yourself; those doesn't make sense when you are a god creating stars and finger flicking entire phanteons.

Also a lot of those latter mechanics exacerbate the game's main flaw - and probably the reason people say this games requires too much active play - rebirth requires too much agenda and forward planning. Let me describe some things that you need to consider:

- from a normal rebirth to a somewhat decent pace is not a fast process because you need to recreate and alocate your shadow clones (can be some minutes to some hours depending on how you spent your gp)
- not all mechanics/clone assigment unlock instally depending on your power at the moment, you may need to wait to build the div. generator for example
- if you get pets in dungeons or campains, its best to wait these to finish (and remember to pick the rewards!) before even rebirthing - and those can be really major problems as you need to set beforehand their duration (as know as guess when you will come back) in hours, up to 12. You can easly be blocked from rebirthing for hours.
- you may soon have to defend your factory from some ultimate beings - this gives a good reward... wait some extra minutes
- you may also need to wait your pets to be at the right hunger threshold so they grow stronger faster

This shows that game's definition of hardcore is less in form of complex mechanics interacting withother and finding the optimal investiment; and more in from of timing your activities so you get the best rewards.

This all makes for idler that you don't play when you get a opportunity, but a game that gives you opportunities to play it from time to time... and this is not what most people expect from a idler...

The store trailer is quite well made from a cinematic and comic point but the game doesn't live up to it.

Not all controls can't be rebinded (and worse, some buttons are fakely rebinded) and game balance feels quite off, the dev didn't test its own game.

Also, it's camera system is quite bizzare as a fixed positions very far away. Why not have scrolling as most games of it's type?

Game has a very generous demo.

Just stop reading reviews and go play it.

Also dont wait for a promotion, devs said that the price is fixed. It's already cheap for the amount of content.

Pros:
- Need to plan rebirths and progression
- Mechanics are added at regular intervals, you need more than 6 months to unlock all (although the last 3 doesn't change much the game tatics.)
- Troll dev in the good way
- Your prestige is getting a 'harder' game with more mechanics :D
- Lots of comedy in every place possible

Cons:
- To get drops from adventure or use the gold pit you need to be online
- The story goes only to level 150', that requires you to play a lot without story continuation
- Most of the humor is references are based 90's culture
- Beards are abandoned/maxed in the late-game
- Story feels more as a really random encounter series than a story

One of the most dinamic and fun Idle games out there. Plays similar to Idling to Rule The Gods

Early Access Review
One of those mobile escape room games that makes stuff so hard to find/understand that you need to watch adds to progress.

But there is no adds on steam, so it only becomes annoying without even making money for the dev.

Avoid

If you are a person that prefers gameplay over graphics, pass this one.

List of sins:

- Most enemies are those pushover frogs, that don't pose a threat and are big punch spouges
- There are upgrades to increase damage up to 2x, and they are obligatory to make a decent pace
- Hey, there's a achievmente for not using upgrades, when not using then only makes the matches longer because of lack of damage
- Horrible achievment design, yeah, put some 'do 50 big combos' in a game of less a hour
- Suspicious Loading time for the size of content, needs optimazing

Kinda enjoyable (denpending on your memorization and reflexes) until level 3. But don't try to play the final level, it's just plain bad.

Pros:

- The orientation between clones is original and truly based on skill

Cons:

- Lacks polish, you advance one pixel when landing while moving
- Lack of sound effects to orientate and help with timing
- A lot of big offenders on good platform design, including:
> Excessive edge jumping
> trampoline vertical 'off and in' jumping
> Point blank cannon placement
> Buttons that you don't know the use until too late
- Hidden and almost invisible spikes...

Zero-k is a game made by veterans and only for veterans... unfortunely. You will have a long road of learning to play.

Pros:

- Factories as a tech management system is a novelty
- Battles are big, and there is enough incentives to spread out
- There is no 'this causes bonus damage' or armor, what you see is what you get, unit types are determined direct numbers.
- A lot better than the avarage free game, this game has history
- Automicro ai and queueing for most things, focus on the strategy and not in sending marines back to fire! But see cons..
- Good 4x4 and bigger matches
- 2 minutes and you are engaging your enemy, obligatory build order is minimal
- Newbies being called lobsters is kinda tongue-in-cheek funny.

Cons:

- INCONSISTENCY EVERYHERE, physiscs gameplay don't apply to jumpbots, micro to dodge is not applied in a lot of obivious situation (impalers missles say hello), game philosofy of powering attacks in late game doesn't apply to artemis shutting down all attacks...
- Not even close to newbie friendly, as there is no simple anwsers to many units, or even a response in your starting factory.
- Lots of noob traps, like the Krow gunship.
- Tons of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ strategies that are normalized.
- Teaches horrible habits to newbies, in special turtling...
- Requires encyclopidian knowledge of all units. There is no standard in relations, even when it uses the same fire effects! (A plasma bolt can cause from 200 to 1100 damage, depending of what fired it)
- You need to play teams to see the whole game, 1x1 is almost only early game.
- Water gameplay is very boring, in special lacking direct assault units.
- Lack of dialogue or sounds for alerts
- A lot of good thinking features, but lacks polish to be confortable or even make sense.
- Units can get stuck in geography
- LOTS of outdated material in the internet can be very misleading.
- 1x1 is very rock, paper, scisors with your starting factory choice
- While there is some general paper-rock-scissors, There is a lot of exceptions, in special with unit combos, need to memorize those too.
- Failed to increase its population because of lack guidance to newer players and mentality to catter to veteran players that play 1x1. Try to play team games at weakends.
- Some balances feels out of place. In special bombers that can fire at flying units
- Sound alerts are at a bare minimum, you don't even have a 'your base is being attacked'
- There is stuff that is so badly balanced that you never see, like the aircraft carrier.
- Too hard ot read situations given the fluid nature fo the game
- Devs too focused on incremental changes instead of fixing the core problems, in special the viability of many units
- Everything is too brittle, stuff can be blow-up in a blank of eye
- Can only play 1x1 or the huge teams of the lobster pot

A very bad game at being a pet simulator, your pets need to be taken care every 10 minutes, not fast enough for active play, not slow enough for passive. Also, they lack any interesting activities.

If you play the first pet, then you played them all.

Just avoid

You will know if the humor will be good from the trailer, but really, the gameplay sucks too much.

Go watch the game on youtube instead of playing it yourself. You will only get the good part
