I have no idea where to start with this one

I have played its since EA when i believe the last character was the horseman. This game has gone through so many changes and honestly each one made it better than before.

With 1.0 and 100%'ing all of the achievements for it I feel like I can finally give it a decent review. If the 277hrs isnt enough to tell you how much I actually loved this game then hopefully this review will help.

Despite the art being minimalistic, it grows on you. The skill arts are also amazing but do however harm you later on in the end game when you need to watch out for AoE effects on the ground. (thankfully there is a setting to let you change the opacity.)

All of the characters have a unique way to play and THIS is the way "class fantasy" should be with how they have their own unique abilties and weapons.

The game comes with three modes, Void Portal which is the base of which the game takes you through in hunting the void lords and their minions. You can choose to go through a few different ways. There's the red portal which spikes the difficulty and then the purple portal which is more of an "endless" mode.

The second one I can't really explain too much as I did not spend a lot of my time with it.

The third, Titan Hunt is by far the best honestly. The lead up to the Void King fight is fun and actually challenges you for non-meme builds a little. Though somehow meme-builds always have a place in this game.

Opinion;
11/10 survivor game, probably the best of any of them I have played.

So at its core - its fun however the main mechanic that it advertises is "co-op". If you have friends to play it with regularly then you can ignore most of this review and enjoy the game. This is a time where I do actually wish steam had a more neutral option than Yes/No or perhaps a more in depth rating system.

I don't have too many friends that enjoy these types of games so i had to deal with the matchmaking and I'm sure some are looking at this like "Well there is a solo option.." but the thing is if the game advertises it with the main deal being co-op then it should be enjoyable WITH it.. Some players just leave after a single wipe due to trying to take on a powerful boss on day 1.

This comes after I did beat a nightlord with each character so I have experienced at least most of what was to offer if not all.

Review of the mechanics/bosses;
+ Bosses are diverse and (most) are enjoyable
+ Each character having a unique combo/animation for their signature weapons is a huge bonus.
+ Some may view this as a negative but I like how the areas are "predictable" in the sense it lets you move on quickly after achieving its core objective. Also the ruins have simple patterns to easy tell where hidden stairs are.

- needing friends since some players are either bots or vastly overvalue themselves
- RNG, there are some ways to kind of force the items/weapons you want but its very picky/choosy as to how. I don't like playing the Duchess and finding 0 daggers.
- greed. greed is the biggest downfall for it since some players will instead of sharing loot just hoard it and thus making it hard to balance the team.

Summary;
Game? Is good as good gets? 7.5/10 only because I wish there was more ways to communicate with other players in the game than pinging as it doesn't really relay things very well..
Story? Each character has their own that's easy-ish to understand but the overarching story is... confusing? (FromSoft in a nutshell tbh)
Combat? Again, the characters having unique movesets with signature weapons will always be a cool bonus for me. solid - do wish some weapons from the other Souls games made their way to this like how some bosses did. It seems like it was only certain bosses and I think 1 per souls game?

All around, 8/10 at max. Worth the price however but again its full potential likely comes out when you play with friends in a VC. Unfortunately for me I couldn't stick it out to finish the last 6 achievements i needed.. I may come back at a later date and get them. (I will update the review after)

This game was probably one of, if not, the better Non-FromSoft Souls-Like that has come out in a while.

From the guard/dodge break mechanics to the actual raw action that it offers. It feels like you are actually THE berserker. I don't know much about the Dungeon Fighter Online story but with how this game told its story I found it fun. I played through with the english VAs only to switch at the end to JP and boy the JP feels like it has more passion behind the voices.

I hope they continue to branch out the Dungeon Fighter franchise to more games like this as this was definitely something that made me interested in that series.

100% the achievements - nothing super outlandish as long as you try to collect everything. It's all do-able in a single run as far as what it seems (Obviously the NG+ achievement is just.. starting the NG+ so i don't know if this is technically true :P)

I would 100% recommend this if you're fixing for a decent anime-esque styled action game.

223 hours in this game. Though about 130~ was in the 2.0 update. This game post 2.0 can only be described as amazing. 100%ing the achievements in this game became more of entertainment than a grind.

The RPG aspects give you different ways to play in both melee and ranged. From usual katanas and fists to rifles/revolvers to just being a netrunner menace

Each ending has its own unique spin to the point where none of them feel specifically canon in my opinion. All of them were very well written with something... lost.

I would 100% recommend this game to anyone that wants to enjoy a RPG FPS with a story. So many different ways to play, act, and end.

Simple fun TD game that some levels are actually just really fun to replay with different layouts.

The vertical levels are a little rough due to how the camera operates but still fun none-the-less.

I was able to obtain all of the achievements relatively easily with only about 59~ hours of gameplay, but i enjoyed every second.

Game is incredibly "meh"

limited guns, characters. Looter shooter tags should have some sort of "Number of weapons actually in the game" note.

The fact the characters are giga locked behind grinding and paywall is just... tedious.

Definitely won't be playing again...

Honestly this type of genre of building a dungeon mix with the RTS elements of the overworld are the perfect combination for some fun.

The Creature group is still fun and even better than the 3rd installment. Comes with a new create in the form of a little furby looking thing. Love the synergy of this group so much

The demon group has had a little bit of a change up but ultimately is the same feeling as the 3rd game. They added these infernals to the group that are actually quite fun. I also love this groups synergy around fire and reducing fire resistance. Can be some fun AoE non-sense.

The undead group feels pretty much the same as the third but has a change up with their re-worked temple to let the undead spawn like mini versions of themselves and causes a lot of fun havoc on the screen.

Also I dont know why it took my the entirety of the third game and basically 80% of this one to discover how awesome traps are? Setting up slime traps to slow the heroes and then using saws to continuously go at them made my time building my army a lot easier.

Overall this game is wonderful and would very much recommend.

I REALLY enjoyed this game all the way through.

The story was actually enjoyable and the monster styles were also very fun to play around with

The end game fights with the legend keepers were a little rough but found guides online

8/10 game - would suggest as a good filler game

This review comes after 100% the achievements

I loved this game - it was so much fun to play as a first time Armored Core player. I will admit some of the folks who dislike it due to the "dark souls" like bosses may be correct in some retrospect but after the first playthrough the ones you struggled with become childs play. The hardest boss is arguably the fourth chapters final boss since it rarely stays on the screen.

In terms of gameplay this is definitely one of my favorite mech games now. I hope this will bring about more armored core games in the future maybe with more weaponry variations too.

Another done side for me is just how the weapons are.. not even? Like dual wielding the zimmerman shotguns seems a bit bonkers as well as dual wielding either grenade launchers or the stingers as shoulder weapons. I hope they eventually fix that in future games where the weapons dont seem so easily shelved after you unlock a certain one.

All in all though, a good 8/10 from me and a hope of future Armored Core games.
