Early Access Review
Tiny Rogues is a deceptively enjoyable game. Surface level it appears to be just another dime a dozen pixel art roguelite. But no. This game has heart and soul abound.
The sound effects are pleasant, the visual identity really fleshes out as you watch all your items appear on you, the build variety goes to the moon as you unlock more and more classes. Each and every weapon is unique and fun, loading up on different effects and seeing what combos best where feels amazing. You'll go from feeling like a scrawny little rat to busting down the doors to Heaven (OR HELL) and demanding the gods kneel before you.

There's references and obvious passions of the dev around every corner. Path of Exile? Mageblood, baby. DOOM? The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PRAETOR ARMOR is in the game. Dark Souls? Ornstein and Smough are bosses here, or the Bell Gargoyles if that's more your speed. Vampire Survivors? We got the King Bible in this ♥♥♥♥♥.

What are we cooking with for class design? Well, there's a class whose whole thing is parrying projectiles from enemies. It's incredibly satisfying. Or would you prefer the one who pulls up and fan-fires a six shooter into the enemy's skull? Like minions? There's one that I have personally taken to have 13+ skeletons milling about around me making my screen entirely unreadable (and ripping everything to shreds!) accompanied by giant floating swords and a host of other stragglers. There's DoT classes, copiers, dodge spammers (SPEEEEEEEED), giant shieldbearers, and more. And that's not even touching weapons.

Want melee? There's plenty of swords, maces, axes, halberds, daggers, and hammers. You could have a flail that spins around you at Mach 4 whilst shooting lasers, or a looping sword slash that lights everything on fire. You could have dual daggers that simultaneously ignite and freeze, or ones that trigger Death By A Million Cuts. A katana-chainsaw hybrid that bleeds everything in sight, a golden Deagle, a kazoo, an RPG, a railgun, Mjolnir, the literal Ocarina of Time. Or just say ♥♥♥♥ IT WE BALL and throw a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brick at your target. Not a single run will be the same.

It's beautiful, glorious, and downright exhilarating. And if the runs aren't hard enough for you at the start, wait til you get cinder levels. Turn em all on if you so please, just tell the massive automaton stomping your teeth into the dirt that Deias sent you.

This game is one of, if not THE smoothest movement shooter I have ever played.
It's not super long, but the entire experience is an absolute whirlwind of fun and spectacle. The very last portion of the campaign had me absolutely giddy with excitement, experimenting with perk and weapon combos was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blast.
I cannot wait for post-launch content, especially if it's anything like what they did for Severed Steel. A roguelike mode would be phenomenal.
Highly recommend.
