The first one of its kind I played where I didn't immediately get bored, and the H-scenes certainly don't disappoint. The deck building gameplay itself could use some more play testing, but it's an outright excellent game in comparison to most others I've seen from this genre.

The original version of this game from many years ago was already pay to win and it's even more so now. At least back then, you would be able to have fun as a $0-spend player. This game now features almost each and every disgusting money-grabbing scheme and exposing them to kids. Worth trying for a bit, but please do not support it with your money. Please.

You know what? There's still fun to be had with this game. It's not impossible to win, given you had the necessary skill and experience. But at the same time, I don't expect anyone to have over 500 hours in a try-hard game like Counter-Strike (I guess that makes me a try-hard too), and/or the original PG3D from 2014--AND STILL LOSE TO A P2W PLAYER BY OVER 2X THE POINTS. I'd love to just say "hurr durr skill issue" to either myself or others who complain about it, but I've played against several players with overpowered gear you straight up cannot obtain unless you pay. They are actually just impossible to beat. The highest level, highest damage weapon you can buy takes 2-3 headshots to take them down, while it takes them one shot to take you down; headshot optional.

It genuinely is a good game with poo stains smeared all over it. A lot of the game modes, weapons, and maps are interesting. It's this whole egregious pay-to-win that destroys the fun. They don't even have to get rid of the overpowered weapons for it to be fun, just have them be earned through gameplay, not by spending money. But I guess that's asking for too much from a game developer whose only goal is more money.

In conclusion, while it's pay-to-win as all hell, there's still fun to be had. Play if you're nostalgic or just want to try a new game for a bit, but please do not support them by spending money. You are just going to make the situation worse for everyone else but yourself.

I have only played the single-player campaign but damn, the game's pacing, excellent visuals (without compromising gameplay), and interesting story, felt like I was committing theft when I got it for like $2 on sale even without the multiplayer component which I haven't yet tried in fear of just having a bad time against the supposed mass-cheating problems.

I can't give this game a fair review without anyone to actually play with or against. It seems fun, but also seems like it'll run dry after a while. The hook mechanic I think is well done and is fun to fling around in general. Maybe additions of other equally ridiculous pick-up weapons (e.g. a heat-seeking knockback-inducing physics missile launcher) would help with the longevity of each session. But again, it's hard to say as it is.

The game had so much potential, yet it's still as unoptimized as people said it was. On my 2nd multiplayer match, I already came across blatant cheaters. Massive frame drops and low frame rate in general, despite me having a decent upper mid-range PC on lowest graphics settings. I doubt the game will get updated to fix these issues anytime soon, so I suppose I'll turn back to the kitchenware-inspired knockoff for a better experience.

TL;DR: The gameplay is good, the music & SFX are good, and the visuals are excellent. The tutorial isn't very good compared to other well-designed tutorials, though better than arrow pointing like certain mobile games

Visuals.
The game is gorgeous despite its pixel aesthetics that most artists don't take full advantage of. Combat and Movement animations are smooth and snappy but not excessive. You can almost feel the impact of the hits and the stepping of the player is bouncy. Though the camera kind of feels like it's shaking a tiny amount when moving small distances.

The UI fits the theme very well without being too detailed that it's overwhelming, though I have more to say about that.

The environment detail is just fantastic. The first "room" you play in (the entrance with a bunch of dumpsters) alone displays attention to detail. The rain splatters on rooftops and large objects. The lit up windows bloom while the street lamps light up the nearby surfaces.

Audio.
Not enough games take advantage of good audio. The sound effects are adequate but plenty. The music works great as background music but I personally wouldn't say it's melodic enough that you can jam along the music. The boss music is a bit better in terms of "jam factor". Nonetheless, it's very good.

If the low-health warning sound matches the BPM of the background music, that'd be cool.

Combat
It seems this game has some kind of rock-paper-scissor mechanic but was never really shown extensively in this demo. It would've been nice to try out, highlighting a more interesting combat system than what's already in place. Currently, the opponents take the same-ish number of wHACKs to defeat and there's not really another option aside from Glitch. Though, this is a demo so I suppose that's to be expected.

I like how it displays the next few turns, but not necessarily what happens in those turns. It gives enough info to strategize but still keeps an element of unknown. You can still predict attack patterns given you experience fighting every enemy at least once, making the choices more dynamic and interesting.

Minor gripes
The tutorial suffers from the front loading approach where they dump the tutorial right at the start. But since the game is simple enough, it's not as bad. Then again, this is a short demo where the tutorial almost had to be this way in order to give enough time to experience all the mechanics at play. That said, it could still be improved. Any element of the UI that isn't used in this demo might as well be removed and reserved for the full release. Heck, I don't know why I need to see my EXP and currency go up every time I win a battle if the leveling system isn't needed yet.

Combat UI is a bit small, particularly the bottom left where all the meters are.

The demo really is just a demo. Other than its main selling point, it doesn't add much else - at least not ones I found given how much I tried to explore around. There doesn't seem to be many extra content to experience.

Overall 7/10... for now.
also Noa is very pretty
