I'll get to the point here:

Crysis sets a standard in graphics fidelity up to this day thats' still unmatched by some current-gen games.
The story is not exactly top-notch (Sci-Fi, nanosuits and aliens, of course) but it does create a sandbox game worth playing whose length is perfect: Not so long and repetitive you'll begin cursing (Some CoDs out there) or so short you'll go WTF (Battlefield 3, anyone?).

In its' own right, this game has set a precedence of what we gamers expect when it comes to futuristic and forward game development. Up to date, this game still requires a PC with considerable power, a testament to its' developers' forward thinking as of its' time.

Overall personal rating: 8/10.

A few notes about this review: I'm yet to play the prequel to this game as of the time this review was written, and as such, will not be comparing this title to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 1.

Gameplay:

The game is very reminiscent of open-world hack and slash classics such as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. The mechanics are well varied and properly executed, and at its' very beginning, launches the player into action.

The boss fights are bloody, epic, and memorable. Little was spared in terms of length and difficulty when encountering various bosses, who are well varied and endowed. Prepare to die a few times in your quest to make progress.

Note that duie to the nature of the story (see section below) , repetitive gameplay is necessitated for one to unlock Dracula's potential abilities as the story progresses. This is executed in a repetitive manner, and as such, incurs a considerable challenge at the early stages of the game. However, as an indirect consequence, later sections are very rewarding as your new abilities are fully utilized in making progress. Prepare for a challenge.

The stealth system and mechanics used are not ideal and are out of balance. A being such as dracula shouldn't be reduced to a powerless imp in the stealth sections, which can be confusing and often convoluted.

Graphics:

Excellent, judging bu its' requirements and visuals. They are well balanced and properly executed. Details are clear and vivid, and so are the vast, open world environments. Character forms are well refined and so are their spectral abilities.

Story line:

All in all, dependin gon your background, its' taste may differ to you. I've read previous reviews from people who played the games' prequel and most were not pleased.
in my opinion, I found the fusion of both the present and the past (through the use of the Wolf Medallion) a bit unique in that you can switch to either timeline and progress at your own rate. In a manner, this further enhances the open world experience. As a drawback, this can make the game very repetitive since the environments are consrained to one transitional area, a chemical company. This also incurs a drawback to the overall quality of Dracula's retelling as a legendary vampire who must be trapped to a moden themed factory for extended periods of gameplay time as a requirement to progressing in the game. This repetitive nature may not bode well for all players.

Overall rating:

The production quality is superb, and so is the gameplay. Comes highly recommended.
My personal rating is 7.5/10.

TL:DR :This game is a direct sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum, carrying forth major characters after the events in the Asylum. To these coming from Arkham Asylum, you WILL appreciate the massive gameplay enhancements made to this game, notably the combat sequences. To these new to the series, its' a challenge you may want to take on.

Long review:

Graphics: A mixed story. DirectX 11 isn't very well tuned, and performance regressions may be observed with some AMD GPUs (Notably AMD Radeon HD 5000 series and some earlier NVIDIA GPUs prior to Kepler). Some features such as tesselation are very scene dependent (Applied only in Poison Ivy's lair) and they incur a considerable performance cost (MVSS and HBAO) in some configurations. A fallback to DirectX 9 disables these DX11 specs without sacrificing other great graphics features such as light shafts and illumination.

Gameplay: For these new to Batman series, this is a beat-them up game, carrying forth an improved version of the seamless freeflow combat system from Arkham Asylum. Note that some boss fight scenes will be a considerable challenge, so prepare to die and restart the game from that point and get taunted for failing if your mode of difficulty is above hard.

Story: Well-developed characters and story line that carries on the story and hints from its' predecessor, Arkham Asylum. Some characters could've been better worked on (Talia Al-Ghul), yet the ending itself was very satisfactory. Also, the villain comes with a twist that you'll get when you complete the game.

Tips: The Game Of The Year Edition has all the DLCs baked in. As of the time of the review, the game was worth ~$19
Ensure you complete 3-4 AR training missions until you get the Grapple Boost upgrade point. Comes in handy when you explore the vast world that is the delapidated Arkham City.

Length: Depends on one's gameplay. For some players, it is possible to pull off both the main and side missions without being sidetracked too far from the game, and also offers sweet upgrade points which reward the gamer's time spent on the side missions. Select your mode of difficulty as it will determine how fast you'll score upgrade points, if you can survive with it.

Replay value: Owing to the excellent challenge mode(s) and extra game play modes, you cannot play this game once.

Overall rating: 9/10. This game is perfect.

TL:DR > Watching Batman movies and reading Batman comics is great and all, but if you really want to feel like you are the Dark Knight, playing Arkham Origins is probably as close as you can get without becoming a billionaire and having your parents murdered.
What makes the game so great is that it features all the elements of being Batman: Detective work, awesome gadgets, martial artistry, chasing crazy people, wearing your underpants on the outside, and so on.

Long review:

Graphics: Excellent, well tuned to NVIDIA GPUs, notably DX11 Tesselation and PhysX. AMD guys may have a different story to tell.

Gameplay: For these new to the game, some boss fight scenes will be a considerable challenge, so prepare to die and restart the game from that point and get taunted for failing.

Story: Well-developed characters and story line that explains a lot about the prequels, and dropping subtle hints that allows the Batman universe to intertwine in all the three games. This is one of the strongest points in the game; Take for instance, the origin of Mr. Freeze, Bane's breakdown, the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his butler, and the Joker's over the line insanity.

Tips: Get the season pass to access the rest of the DLCs. If you don't need online play, the season pass has you covered with the rest, such as the Initiation DLC and stuff. That adds extra hours of immersive gameplay that'll keep you practising and on edge to keep up with your enemies.

Length:Well balanced. On average, it is possible to pull off both the main and side missions without being sidetracked too far from the game, and also offers sweet upgrade points which reward the gamer's time spent on the side missions.

Replay value: Owing to the excellent challenge mode(s) and extra game play modes, you8 cannot play this game once.

Overall rating: 10/10. This game is perfect.

PS: Did I mention there were Ninjas? Yes, I did.

Overall: 10/10. Gameplay reminiscent of Batman Arkham City.

Extra notes for AMD users: On DirectX 11 tesselation, use normal settings and avoid all NVIDIA "enhanced" settings, they can cripple the game's performance. The same aplies to people using NVIDIA GPUs priot to Kepler.

First, with the Pros:

True to the games' description by the author, this is a horror survival game. Progress is determinded by how well you can survive. Elements of stealth, reconnaisance, resource utrilization and conservation, atmospheric and lighting will be key in exploration and survival.

The gameplay is pretty straight-forward. Hand-holding is minimal, and the challenge progression is non-linear. Even on amateur difficulty level,Metro Last Light requires considerable skill and attention to detail to muster even the very first parts of the game. Its' a good primer for these well versed in first person shooters. On highrt levels of difficulty, the key is stealth, frugality in expending resources and firepower, and speed. Of note is the realism bhrought on by environmental factors such as lighting ( notes for stealth), radioactivity, uninhabitable atmosphere ( reminds you to keep check on filters and inventory), and the various monsters you'll face in-game. Each is a challenge unto its' own, blended into a perfect blend of horror.

This, in my opinion, is one of the best horror survival games I've played in a while, and compared to the Resident Evil franchise from Capcom, Metro Last Light just stole my personal record of a horror survival game from Resident Evil.

The graphics options are modest, and a recent gaming rig with a mid-range GPU should be able to handle the game on Low to Medium, without appreciable loss in visual quality. For these with high-end NVIDIA GPUs, turn on Advanced PhySX for realistic physics. You'll want to leave this "Disabled" on AMD GPUs and APUS. VRAM is also significant on Ultra Setting Details and resolutions above 2k-4k.

Game length: Adequate and balanced. Jump right in and survive. Its' all that matters in the Metro.

Caveats: On some scenery, persistent flickering of textures may be prevalent and at times, intermittent. May cause visual strain. Exasberated by playing the game in Stereoscopic 3D. Recent updates and patches have reduced this problem. However, its' still present. If flickering lights trigger epileptic episodes and syncope in the player, take note of this problem.

Well, DmCDevil may Cry was a reboot of the fabulous, beloved and awesome Devil May Cry Series, courtesy of Ninja Theory and CAPCOM. It retells the story of the origins of Dante, Vergil, Sparda and the iconic Eva, in a twist that breaks the cadre of the story from the previous Devil may Cry series.

Review: The story was a (bit) half-assed, character development was shallow, and as such, the previous touch and flair that Dante is known for ( Balls, bravery, awesomeness, cool dude) and Vergil's nature ( Loyalty, skill, distaste for firearms, etc) have neen washed away and in their place, are shallow, under-developed and uninspiring characters for whom no fan of devil may Cry series can connect to easily. The fabled Sparda, and his legend is gone. So if you're looking to reconnect to the awesomeness that Devil may Cry used to be, this is not it. It may feel a bit insulting to the series' die-hard fans.

Gameplay: Acceotable. Fluid mechanics, and the camera can get glitchy at times. For the love of all thats' awesome, why did they leave out Lock On to targets out of a hack and slash game? This makes combat cumbersome, especially in Boss Fights (Mundus, anyone? ). The game also has a short learning curve, and as such, new players to the series will be at ease hacking and slashing demons at the comfort of their seats.

Graphics: Pretty average. Nothing spectacular. Runs in DirectX9, powered by the Unreal Engine 3. If you're on catalyst (Running an AMD/ATI GPU/APU), ensure you're using the latest driver. The game is known for being glitchy with old versions of AMD Catalyst, and micro-stutter is relatively common in CrossFire-based systems. Your mileage may vary.

The music is great,m if you're into industrial metal. Noisia and CombiChrist worked up quite the charm here, so you'll be in for a blast if its' your kind of thing.

Overall rating: 88% in my personal opinion. Despite its shortcomings, this is a great game with excellent gameplay and many hours of fun, especially when you throw in the Vergil's Downfall DLC and the other mode similar to Devil may Cry's 4 Bloody Palace. Again, your mileage may vary. This is a personal opinion and as such, is subject to personal bias.

Play the game, and be the judge.

Pros: Great graphics, nice gameplay, multi-player. And robots armed with turrets!
Cons: You'll have too much fun to be productive. Make sure you've nothing urgent that needs to get done. You won't be pausing this.

Lets' get blunt here: Darksiders 2 was a bit of a disappointment. Having played the prequel, Darksiders, my expectations were a bit higher. For War, the oldest, most feared horseman. As regards his capabilities, it was decent. His story? Not really. Amateur animated graphics don't cut it either.

Game length, coupled with the DLCs, was excellent. Voice-acting was also well done and worth mentioning.
What sucked the most is that this was a deliberate console port. Graphic options were lacklustre, to say the least. Performance lags were common on initial release, especially on AMD hardware. The issue may have been fixed by now.

Recommended. However, if you're new to Darksiders, have fun. If not, it may disappoint a bit.

Colin McRae. Another racing game that tracks achievements. Graphics seem a bit dated, but overall, okay.
Controller support isn't ideal, so a keyboard will have to suffice for these who can't deal with partial controller support.
Recommended.

Darksiders, for the uninitiated, is a hack-and-slash game, similar to these in tis' calibre such as Devil May Cry series. In this title, you'll control War, one of the horseman, as a playable character. You can upgrade his abilities, weapons and durability as the gameplay progresses, by purchasing them from Vulgrim, and interactions with other characters such as Samael (Shadow Flight and Chronomancer), and the gate keepers (Shadow realm vision), etc.

The action and gameplay are above average for a hack and slash title. However, one of the things you'll appreciate about this game is that there are no freebies: Its' tough and challenging, and both mini-bosses and bosses are no exception. Even on easy, prepare to replay scenes as you battle the main bosses (Notably Tiamat and Silitha, two of the chosen).

Visuals: Okay. Scales well even on older hardware with reduced settings. Nothing spectacular here.
Game length: Satisfactory.

Caveat: The Horseman's steed, Ruin, is acquired much later in the game, and you need him to access some areas in the game. This also compounds into a second problem: Repeatability. You'll find yourself repeating sections later on as you acquire new abilities. This is a tolerable compromise, since the game length does not pack inconvenience in the process (Remember Skyrim? None of that time-packing and stretching is preent ).

All in all, it was a great primer to get started on as a game, and its' decent.

Overall rating: 8.7/10
