the developer is improving the game gradually, but as it stands right now, it has some control issues, bad hitboxes, frustrating physics, and unforgiving gameplay. it's still closer to a rage game than a platformer, but it's improving

a point and click detective game. and now, one of the best i've played. you can ask anyone about any of the clues, and they're gonna have a voiceline for it??? and every single one actually contributes to something?????

everything in this game is so... perfect. at least it comes way too close to it. there's not a single thing i wasn't fully content with while playing. everything everyone says (and doesn't say) ties back into the narrative of the story.

the puzzles were all clever, the characters are terrifyingly well written, the dialogue is entertaining and transparent, the voice acting is flawless, the art is BEAUTIFUL, and i can't even beGIN to talk about the incredible soundtrack. the creative team behind this really nailed everything, and together, the whole experience turned out exciting and complete.

although the other reviews are right, and the ending was a bit rushed, it didn't bother me while playing. and the reveals really evoked the classic detective novel feeling of discovery that i so longed to feel again (cause i cant even read a book nowadays). every single reveal was an a-ha moment.

awesome

great game, all throughout i felt a deep anxiety (pun intended). the adaptive music is awesome, really made me nervous going deep, and the approaching enemy chords will have a place in my heart right next to the guardian theme from botw.

i didn't finish it yet, died for the first time right now and didn't feel like going again right after lol (i'm not a fan of roguelikes), but up until what i saw:

love the playable menu

i liked the upgrade system a lot, i saw myself buying things in a balanced way, even thought i wasn't trying to.

i didn't try to reach it yet, but i just don't understand why there's a limited number of items you can buy. i can understand there's probably a limited amount of gold on the world and all, but what if i hate the signs and wanna waste all my money on lines? (i mean, was it a way to balance purchases or something?)

by the way i absolutely love the lines

i took a good while to figure out what the torch did, but it was worth the a-ha moment. i only figured it out when i was asking myself "when am i gonna unlock the shop item to unlock the passages? or am i gonna find it elsewh.... oh"

i like the option to change the colors of things, really nice.

i almost died a lot of times, especially at the start. i see that as a very positive thing on the game design part.

the monsters weren't much of a problem (until i ventured too far, then i died), but their design alone and jumpscarey nature already freaked me out.

real reason i died: i found a lil hole and got STUCK below all my junk. my two dashes didn't help. that was kinda frustrating since it wasted my life and then i died to the monsters lol. i'll never trust any hole ever again

adjustements i'd make:

saving :)

i HATE tow lines breaking. i prefer to get stuck and DIE because i cant get through an opening with 3 giant gold bars than having them fall without my consent. let me be forced to make a decision, don't make it for me :(

there should be a way to unstuck yourself, even if slowly. i had two dashes and one oxygen tank, if items were pushed back even slowly, i could crawl away from there and maybe barely reach safety.

(by the way, why does the character n e e d to turn? i never felt it in-game, it never made a difference until it killed me. in my opinion, it should be a more important aspect of the game, or get removed)

FULLSCREEN!!!

and finally, the turning mode i saw in the video definately deserves a chance, maybe as a second gamemode or an easter egg

TL;DR line good hole bad anxiety anxiety real good :)

honest review here, i really liked it, even though it had some issues

first of all, the post processing on this is really great. this game is incredibly aesthetic. the story is really interesting, even if a little confusing at times. the game has some great moments, and i give it credit for that

that said, the biggest issues i have with this game are:
the jumping feels good, but you can't look back while jumping, you'll always go where you're looking. that killed me a lot because enemies were always behind me, and when i went to look at them i just lauched myself at them lmao.
same with the shotgun, i thought you were gonna introduce parkour with it, but when you launch yourself back with it and get huge momentum, the rule above also applies, if you were going backwards when you shot it, when you turn, you'll also be going backwards?? the momentum basically depends on where you're looking, and since you can't shoot behind you, the shotgun doesn't really help with mobility.
and with that, you miss a good speedrunning strat (though i think they would just complete the game going on reverse lmao), because even if you don't make your game for people to speedrun it, it just helps with the user experience overall. not needing to wait for dialogue, fast respawning, dynamic level design, smooth mechanics, not needing to hear the repeated dialogue after you die (i'm talking to you, final boss.), etc.
and it also helps to see if you can complete the game hitless, because oh my god i can't dodge the red enemies for NOTHING, and there seems to be enemies that just reach you across the whole room (i'm talking to you, first boss.)
and also some few bugs, like when you minimize the window or just open steam overlay and get back, you just get stuck and can't move or shoot until you reopen the game, and when you beat it, the main menu just simply doesn't spawn a cursor (lmao) and you also have to reopen the game. besides that, no major bugs, never got stuck with things that weren't those two, but they're still kinda annoying

I can see which games this was inspired on, i don't remember all i thought about, but i remember heavy mentions of portal, half life, stanley parable, and even when the darkness comes. of course, these are just the ones i played and found similar, and if you don't know one of them (especially the last one, since it's the odd one out) go play it. now.

great experience, good game, a few problems, but the game kinda makes up for that. it's not a thing for everyone, but i enjoyed it. 7/10 for me :)
can't wait for you next game now that you have more experience!
